What happened to Chinese female players? All look tomboy n more like guys: Huang Dongping, Li Yinhui, Chen Qingchen, He Bingjiao
This will somehow humiliate Chinese as not fashionable and dont care about look. Can we ask them to change their look, at least with longer hair n skirt to attrack more viewers
Really miss the past: Gong Ruina, Ma Jin, Zhou Mi, Xie Xingfang, Zhang Yawen, etc...

    What matters more?

    Performance or attraction?

They are not being paid to look good, they are being paid in expectations of doing well.

The good looking ones obviously don't have the performances to warrant selections (There hardly is any decent looking female players anyways).

I also noticed that, the new generation of china players all short hair, I guess is that they just want to focus on badminton. However, no doubt good players with good looks helps to promote badminton.

I'd rather Shi Yuqi suffers setbacks and hard knocks early in his career to help him gain valuable experience and steel his resolve.

Let's face it, boys...girls who have great talent are no match for girls who have the equivalent great talent AND great looks.

Do you think just anyone with a great singing voice can be a pop star? They've got to have the whole package...

The significant thing here is that he didn't know how to change his game or even elevate to a higher level to overcome KS's play. And you are supposed to be the best of the juniors!!
It leads me to make the next point after BQ's loss as well. No doubt Prannoy is a good player and KS adopted the right strategy. But two of the top juniors out in the first round is not good I must say.
The defeat goes to show that CBA should have another four or five juniors who can move to fill in the gap when required. This second group should be playing in the lower tier tournaments and should be ready to move a level up when needed.

I tend to agree with you. One of the reasons Li Yongbo gave for not sending too many CHN players to the same tournament is because the juniors and lesser players often get knocked out early in the rounds by the seniors. But,like you said, why not send them more to the lower tier tournaments. GPG/GP and lower, to gain ranking points , experience and exposure ?

China junior already dominating at the lower rank tournaments, that’s why it’s time to send them to super series to play with the big boys.

I personally think Xue Song has more potential than Shi Yuqi but what do I know.

So far only a handful of CHN juniors have such opportunities. I think antssantss has in mind the other juniors who are deprived of international exposure, many of whom have good potential if given the opportunities to prove themselves.

After recent title less tournament, there was some analysis on the Indian side about that.
They all said that it is a temporary blip. China will come back.
Veteran Arvind Bhat said that Sun yu though entered many finals this year , she wont be the torch bearer of Chinese badminton. The reason he sites is her abnormal body mass density .

P.Gopichand did not mention anything about Sun Yu . He said 'There is no crisis in Chinese ws. He bingjiao is good'
