IMHO, to beat PVS, you got to first adjust your game to her height; second, keep her guessing even if you're not deceptive, at least have a wide repertoire of shots; third, you need a solid enough defense if you're not a superb retriever or runner.

@Maurice MJC: Mrs. Clark agrees with us about Tai Tzu Ying, She said earlier that in her best form, Tai Tzu Ying is the best WS player in the world. What a display of badminton skill she just showed. Congrats for her second SS title this year, and for her first ever Rank #1 position next week.

There's no one dominant player in WS, the revolving door or musical chairs continue, first one then the other in turn rules the roost for a brief period of time. Who will it be next ?

The problem with such a deceptive player as Tai Tzu Ying is it sometimes backfires, and badly.

I can make a dissertation to analyse the percentage of unforced errors tolerable for Tai Tzu Ying to win a match.

The same can be said of HBJ, but TTY is fitter and has a better physique. Skill wise HBJ is better and is a joy to watch when she does not make those unforced errors.

Back-to-back titles for the reigning Olympic Champions Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir as they beat their compatriots Praveen Jorden/Debby Susanto in straight-sets: 21-19, 21-17.

I think even Liliyana Natsir herself cannot believe at she could win 2 titles in 2 weeks as she is currently nursing an injury. You can see how casually she's moving in the past few days as she doesn't want to over-exert herself.

These 2 titles would probably fuel her to continue partnering Tontowi Ahmad (which I think is good and bad news at the same time for INA). Good news because that means there will likely be more SS titles contributed by this pair (including the elusive Indonesia Open title and the BWF Super Series Finals, another possible World Championships in 2017 (and perhaps 2018), World No 1 Ranking, and culminating in the Asian Games 2018 to be staged in Jakarta. The bad news is because the young INA players will probably not be partnering Tontowi Ahmad as the head coach is likely to persist with this partnership.

As for Praveen Jordan, Debby Susanto's imminent retirement will mean he needs to find a good partner and hopefully can reach the same height as what he did with Debby (All-England title, Asian Games Bronze-Medal, Olympics QF and a top 4 placing in the World Ranking table).

It's a battle between two young upcoming players in the MS final. They have created their personal best reaching an SS finals.

Looking forward to a exciting match!

Agree, He Bingjiao has a similar problem. I remember one tournament where she tried not to be deceptive and played more aggressively (maybe Chen Jin asked her to give it a try) but ended up tiring more quickly. If deceptiveness is in their blood, HBJ, TTY, IR, they just cannot change.
