Why is Chen Long still using the original N55 after all these years? Compared to the newer LN's, the first generation frames were thick and bulky and surely much less aerodynamic?

 

Consistency. I think consistency is more important than any crazy new technology found in rackets.

 

The aerodynamic drag of the racket frame is not as much as it's made out to be compared to the overall drag - the stringbed has a big influence on that as well, which wont be reduced by a more aerodynamic frame...also he might like that particular racket, and there wasnt one like it in the later gens...

 

The N55 1st gen has a box frame, and even yonex thinks it's still best for attack - the attacking side of DUO10 is box framed )

Hi, im new here.. Currently play with nanoray zspeed NC and feels perfect for me.. Then i had a chance to buy N99 from my friend, already strung with bg66UM 28lbs. The problem is i cant Test it asap and the Next few months. Can you give me stiffness comparison in terms of court playing nrzs nc & n99? Should i cut the string couse i usually play with 24lbs only? I'm afraid N99 will hurts my shoulder like MX80 does

 

I dont think N99 is as stiff as MX80 if my memory serves me right.

Do you guys know of any current Li-Ning racket that is similar to the Li-Ning Woods N90 racket?

In my opinion, the closest is the N55-III. It's similar in terms of stiffness and head-heavyness. But slightly faster.

 

None match the weight. The N55-iii os stiffer and lighter, the N90-iii is lighter and softer (though heavier than the N55iii), the N80-ii is lighter and similar in stiffness, maybe a touch stiffer. Personally I found the transition from the N90 to the N80-ii quite easy.
N55-iii is really hard on your arm, the N80-ii less so, the N90-iii the least of those 3. No gen 3 racket has such a boxy frame though! I guess that may have played a role in how well it played at high tensions....still miss mine

I know most people here play with only the high end N series rackets, but does anyone have any experience with LiNing's td line of rackets? There's a racket that seems to suit my specs, price is appealing and design/color is wonderful, but I'm worried it may be plagued with quality control issues like low end Yonex and high end Victor rackets where they usually vary with very different specs. I am looking to pick up a pair but if they very by more than a few grams there's no point.

 

Only TD racket I've played with is the N80TD, which was great.

 

I'm using the 50 e tune at the moment which bears similarity to the n90. Has a nice feel, stiffness and headweight. It's not exactly the same but if like me, you want something more modern than the n90, then this might be a good place to look.

 

Thanks. Isn't that a Yonex racket though? Was looking for a Li-Ning equivalent to the N90.

 

Li-Ning "TD" rackets can be thought of as a "Take Down" from the "N" type rackets where you're not looking for military grade carbon fiber material but would like a similar racket with some technologies stripped away.

It is and I looked, I didn't try the 55-3 but if that doesn't match nothing will. Think it's worth trying the 50 et. It's cheaper than the top ends

N80-II and N55-III are the replacement suggestions that were given for the N90.
