I beg to argue, I consistently finish a one piece job in just under 20 minutes, and one of the well-known stringers in the GTA finishes his Haribito in 15 minutes on average. Two piece is just too much of a hassle in terms of shared holes, and I also find that weaving crosses without the last 2 mains during the Haribito pattern is easier to do.
I understand that in the 2pc pattern, when finishing the mains you go 9 > 11 > 10, which causes some overlap when starting the first few crosses. Generally you can still go rather fast compared to 1 piece, quick because most 1 piece patterns need some sort of extra clamping, and momentum shifting when doing the crosses, some sort of split 50/50, 30/70, etc. But of course if you're super experienced and you know a particular pattern on the back of your hand, then I'm sure it will be faster than something else that you don't practice. But I feel that the simplicity of the 2 piece procedure is easily picked up and perfected.
You are super fast, I'm not even close! Are you using the around the world Haribito pattern? I recently changed to doing all 11 mains, then the pattern finishes kinda 50/50, I'm trying to see which pattern I like more, this seems to be a bit faster because less hard weaves, and no skipping 3rd last cross. I also like how the 270 degree pull is 2 & 3 holes down for each side which is easier on the frame and grommets.
This is very true - I started out doing the 2 piece patterns first, then tried the Haribito ATW which I now prefer. I find it less hassle than dealing with the extra knots, and getting the strings at the bottom outside flat without crossovers. Of course the first time I tried it I was much slower, but now the reverse is true whenever I have to string a Yonex racket
Hi, I have some trouble understanding this with the 76 pattern in starting cross: Starting Point cross (D8) and then Tie off cross after two cross lines. (D9) Does it mean not to thread all string through D8 and leave some end to thread into D9 and create a knot there. Also will that be a starting bulk knot or just a regular Parnell Knot?
Looks like it means start the crosses at B8 using a starting clamp instead of a knot. Weave two crosses (at least) and tie off at B9. Interesting, I think that's the first time I've seen an official pattern use 3 strings for one grommet.
IMO the YY 2 piece will always be faster because you don't need to pull nearly 5 m for the crosses through every main hole. Also you don't have the issue of twisted strings (some strings are prone to twist like some Zymax or BG80P). IMO less string to deal is always an advantage for the work flow.
I do agree with you on that one. The reason I prefer to do one length of string and tie off in two places only is that it looks neater but yes, you're right.
For some reason I kind of like the idea of tie after pulling two cross strings holding by starting clamp.
Hi! I have a Carlton Kinesis x70 here. I'd like to do with 4 knots. Is there a pattern for this model?
