In addition to being the 2-time depending World Champion and the reigning Olympic Champion, Chen Long just showed that he is the best player in the game today. It is going to look ridiculous now if BWF chose to ignore the best badminton player in the world for the World Championship.
Well, if the best player didn't qualified, then should he get a wildcard? Inconsistency doesn't reward at all.
@racketman123, you are spot-on, Chen Long wins the Asian MS crown beating Lin Dan of all person. Chen Long, The Dragon, is back !
@RedShuttle Can You edit your Post number 1021 stating Chen Long as the best player in the world? It has hurt my feelings and You also don't have statistical proof to back your statement. Thanks.
Actually, he has one. Overlord Chen Long is: - Reigning World Champion. - Reigning Olympic Champion. - Beat LD at BAC to win the title. - Winning a tournament after a injury. - Good muscle to fat ratio. - Wall of China.
~ that was 2 Years ago ~ that was an year ago ~ BAC is SS level while some have won the SSP.(FACT) ~ Someone has done this already this year at a higher event.(FACT) ~ Irrelevant ~ Irrelevant
If Chen Long didn't get the wild card, who benefits ? If he did, who is scared of him ? Most importantly, BWF has to consider how granting a wild card entry to Chen Long will be good for world badminton as a whole, including the tournament organizer and sponsors' interests, as long as it contributes to the promotion of badminton worldwide.
Nah, no one cares about the exclusion of Chen Long from WC except the players. The world of badminton doesn't need a unqualified champion now and never will be. Like Dubai, BWF just have to content with it.
The problem is wildcard. Wildcard is used as whim by BWF. Who got it in 2015? No one right? It just some convenient way some unqualified player can join WC.
He said Chen Long is the best player today, now, not for all time. And that in the context of Chen Long deserving a wild card entry to the Glasgow WC. Hey, this BAC has the Super Trio competing, how can it not be regarded as one of the toughest tournaments to win for anybody. As such winning it makes the player the strongest at the moment. When Lin Dan captured the MAS open PSS beating LCW while Chen Long retired injured in R2, I called him the numero uno at that time. Now, at the BAC, Chen Long is the numero uno. I never say it's for the year, there are still several tournaments to go, and certainly not for all time.
A whim by BWF ? You insult BWF's intelligence. Unqualified? Who ? Chen Long ? You make my toes laugh.
No one will really believe Chen Long was actually injured Just like his AUS open performance last year.
That's not the main point. We can say the same for any player's injury, but I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. What matters is his early retirement at the MAS Open and withdrawal at the following SIN Open have resulted in his ranking falling outside of top 8 for the Race to Glasgow Standing, like shooting his own foot, and now we are not sure if BWF will award him a wild card or not. To me,sacrificing one of the three CHN players is not the best option as I strongly feel Chen Long as the defending champion in its own right deserves it, just as what the BWF did for the Super Series Finals by giving automatic qualification to the reigning World or Olympic Champion. The same logic applies, even more so for the World Championships worthy of its name.
Then Redshuttle should write that Chen Long is the best player of the Week 17(FACT!) But if he means that Chen Long has been the best Player of 2K17, It will be a lie which can hurt the feelings of Lin Dan fans and Lee Chong Wei fans, likely to cause emotional stress as well. Both Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei have been superior to Chen Long in 2O17 according to Stats.
Even if your toes is laughing, it still doesn't change the fact that Chen Long didn't qualify for World Championship. No, BWF is always like that, sometime nonsense. CL failed to get in Top 8 behind THW, LD and SYQ. He should have cry at the day he went on vacation for too long.
Who did get 2015 Wildcard or even 2014? Only one who get that is Lin Dan in 2013. I am saying if they want vacation, then take the time off. Don't come back in the same year and demand to be treated like someone who fought hard in SS tournament just to gain valuable ranking points. I am looking at you, two specific player.
