The CHN vs JPN XD Sudirman Cup re-match is my match to watch for the day, though the odds are against Watanabe who had to play 3 games in MD yesterday while Zheng Siwei had a rest day as his MD partner Lu Kai was sick.... play-style wise, the stadium also is at odds with the JPN XD's strategy of playing long lines and crosses to push their opponents out of position (they are JPN's front-back variation or version of Sapsiree/ Dechapol). Higashino looks like a strictly specialist front-court XD player, but her Yamaguch-like build will likely give her a longer XD career than Chen Qingchen as long as JPN can find the right male partner for her... her side to side movements are so quick and balanced! Meawhile, Cheng Qingchen playing the way she does in WD and XD looks to me like an accident/ injury just waiting to happen. Maybe JPN will let Watanabe specialise in XD if Watanabe/ Higashino can get into the Top 10? I mean, playing MD, WD and XD is just doing no favors to Sapsiree/ Dechapol... though maybe THA & JPN are gearing up for the Thomas/ Uber Cups since the Sudirman Cup is over?
I hope so too. Kidambi has an even chance to beat Jorgensen as their head 2 head is 2 -2. But nothing is certain in sports hence the thrill of watching.
cruising until 2020 would be the correct strategy. Stay healthy and within the top 15 and you're in. No need to physically risk anything since you're already World and Olympic champions. Take it easy the next 18 months. Implement the "Lin Dan" plan and focus on the big titles.
http://livestreaming.djarumbadminton.com/#!/ can watch all the matches live here, Court 1-3, should be the same even if you are in america i wonder?
They are good with 7 SS titles but 14Runner Ups or so ( a Losing SSFinals record dont usually rhymes good). Could have been more in Takamatsu and dont think they are World Champion yet?
That is why ..Runner Up Runner Up Runner Up and suddenly you are knocked out R1 like Marin. Ahhhh no more Marin Isnt it better like Axelsen Champion R1 R1 R1 lol. Off course Ax also lost a lot of his Finals.
you mean Endo... Anyhow they're not a high priority for Japan. Endo is 30 and Watanabe is 20. MD is a way to give Watanabe more on court tournament experience. Too bad Japan doesn't have another MD partner around his age for him at the moment. For team Japan it's 100% about 2020. I think they're right on track in MD, XD, WD & WS.
correct...I was thinking All England. They're on the older side in badminton terms which is why I think cruising is the right way to go towards 2020
Nozami is on a comback trail and is playing with more vigour and sharpness. Anyhow she should give Akane a good fight.
No looking good, but I still think AY will take it if she gets even a slight lead after interval. It'll be great for NO to gain some momentum now
You will get to see a lot of smashes this tournament-- everybody is having trouble lifting or punching clear to the base line-- but only for this tournament, so (let Wang Tzu Wei) enjoy the short lifts and quick smashes while they last... Except when it comes to the players who are smart/ good enough to control the net, of course.
Ng is a really smart player, but he relies on his clears and baseline accuracy, the court conditions didn't help and WTW registered his first hurray over the HKG #1
Now I see why/ how Emil Holst keeps beating Axelsen when Axelsen has his off-days, Emil is so consistent and ready to rally...
