I guess that's why he (& Prannoy?) appear to have such inconsistent performances...

    1) "Slow" (high humidity, cold/ high air pressure, etc) stadiums -- your smashes are not as fast

    2) Stable air currents -- a good high lift/ clear will push you back to the baseline (where your smashes have farther to go)

    3) Strong defensive opponents -- they will just wear you out with good retrieval skills.

So hard-smashing players should either broaden their skills/ shots ... or just enjoy playing in optimal playing conditions as and when they arise.

They might be trying to give players more manageable playing conditions, as temperature, air currents and audiences tend to be stabilize in late afternoon/ evenings-- though I'm not sure that many people will stay to watch Natsir/ Ahmad play the last match of the day...

But the real trouble started with the stadium having only 3 courts instead of 4 to play on from day 1...

Weird if so for Zhao is 8 years younger than Son (born 1988).

Son Wan Ho is one player who can keep going and going without his shot quality deteriorating much, you really have to outplay him which Zhao Junpeng did initially but couldn't maintain it as fatigue sets in.

Quite true except that Chen Long is one up, a higher version. Just look at how many near-impossible shots Chen Long is able to return even when late to the shuttle.

yeah, chen long's style is more refined than son wan ho, and also chen long is better physically and mentally. AFAIK even Chen long himself said that SWH is hard to play against because they have similar styles.

Son Wan Ho can be beaten by Jonatan recently. can he beat Chen?

Never understand Jonatan game .He also beat Chou and took a game from Lin in malaysia.

In my opinion, he doesnt have anything special. I guess he lacked consistency.

Ct.1 still has 7 matches to go; Ct.2 has 5 matches and Ct.3 has 6 matches. The local time is now about 20:20 (UTC + 7H) so if the average match is 50 minutes then most likely the last match will finish at later than 02:00 to 03:00... dawn already! Thing will end earlier if they may redistribute the matches to Ct.2.

Every player is beatable simply because they are human, they can have an off day or be affected by unforeseen circumstances (eg, sickness or injury, shoes broke, personal isues) or extraneous factors (eg, unfavourable playing conditions, overstretched playing too many grueling matches in a row, poor umpiring or linejudging where there's no Hawk-Eye, etc) beyond their control. That's why we talk about H2H over a reasonably long period of time.

Jonatan Christie cannot be underestimated, he's becoming a potentially dangerous opponent for most of the top players.

    Wow that is hilarious!

I am sure HS prannoy would have LCW totally figured as well.

It is nauseating how some people just can't get beyond their biases.

My goodness, Chen Long demolished Jonatan Christie, 21-9, 21-7. Not what I expected.
