Players tend to give reasons when they lose to others. He lost to Prannoy in the last tournament and now to Srikanth If at all fatigue plays a part, that should be for Srikanth who had been in three finals.

Even if he points out some medical condition for the loss in the finals, what about his loss @ indonesia Open?

Srikanth simply played brilliantly in the finals. Let us hope he give his stupendous performance even in world championships.

I just had never seen another player consistently punch-clear him before. It was as if his opponent had always assumed CL would be able to intercept a flatter attacking clear to the backhand side (which, given CL's height and reach is a perfectly reasonable thought). What Kidambi showed in the Aus final was that attacking CL's long backhand corner with a clear is in fact a viable plan. No other player off the top of my head had experimented with that tactic against Chen Long before, certainly not at the Olympics.

That said, now that Chen Long is aware of his tactic being used by Srikanth against him, his coaches and he will surely work on a countermeasure. We'll just have to wait and see.

i was there, and disappointed with the non competitive match. a few of us discussed - if LD would have made a better performance against kidambi. the collective answer - probably yes.
needless to say, its a moot point.

You mean you think there was any chance of the LD (nowadays) could've possibly defeated "The Machine" that day?
