yes yes yes it's all fine,, and you're for sure a great censor out in factual facts,, planet earth is calling have a nice trip
Baddyforall /Undersigned BTW the meltdown didn't really came as a surprise, it was more about when and where- and of course he chose his home-Island/ Fyen with all friends and family on the grandstand
He almost lost to Wei Nan. Then got destroyed by Kidambi. Can't wait for Kento Momota to come back to show Axelsen who's the real boss
When Viktor was talking to his coach in the 3rd set, the Denmark commentator heard Vitkor tell his coach that he was tired. Viktor was able to overcome his mental weakness in the finals over the last year. And he has improved his defense and consistency immensely. But it seems that he still has some stamina issues. It's not the first time that Viktor gets really tired in the 3rd set. In the finals in Dubai, he was very tired against THW in the 3rd set but THW kept making mistakes to keep Viktor in the game. I hope Viktor can overcome his stamina issues. He is too young to encounter stamina issues against his opponent. This type of stamina issue is something I would expect from LD and LCW since they are so old, but not from Viktor. Also, Viktor may have lost some focus in the 3rd set against Srikanth too.
It's probably more to do with mental fatigue impacting physical fatigue. VA is in peak fitness form compared to his previous years and probably trains harder than ever, but he still loses his cool and feels pressure when other opponents do not. Kidambi had nothing to lose going in to the match where as VA was in front of a home crowd and not long after his WC win. I'm sure he's very keen to string a series of good performances together to establish himself as the #1 in the world in his own mind. This is why the road to Tokyo is very interesting.
I already miss the pre-WC times when the discussions in here were less heated and more focused on facts. If this little fan thread is a an example of how much pressure he's experiencing since WC title and becoming WR #1, then imagine what is currently going on around him in his daily life, especially on home ground. Everyone is expecting him to play his best and win title after title, even more so in his home town. Just try for a second to put yourself in his place and try to imagine the thoughts revolving in his mind. It doesn't need much for any human being to simply lose your sh*t in that situation. Anyone who has followed his career prior to the WC title knows that Viktor's mental strength has never been the best. He has improved it a lot with his metal coach, but being under this amount of pressure apparently was too much for him. Let's all cut him some slack to getting used to being no longer the hunter but the hunted. And let's look forward to an interesting future in MS with Viktor, KM, SK and other aspiring youngsters like AA in the next years.
It was simply a case of a strategy crashing head long into its counter strategy. VA clearly threw everything but the kitchen sink at SK in g1/2 hoping for a blitzkrieg win. But after SK held the line in g2 VA was a spent force. I suspect it might have been a similar outcome had it been VA vs LHI.
there will be many more victories & meltdowns in the future. it is who he is. makes for exciting matches! is it any different than 'which lin dan will show up today?' who here is going to stop watching either of them play? i'm sticking with my prediction from january... viktor will finish the year @ #1.
Yes. And there are two types of arm chair experts, one who plays badminton and the other who doesn't, I am the former. The other day when I was playing, it was so hot that I couldn't think. Lost a game that I should have won. The heat affected me. What I am trying to say is that once the mind is gone, everything goes.
Not if it comes down to the issue of mental strength. Considering what he has been through over the last eighteen months, Momota is in a league of his own here.
Not that we're picking on VA (it could have been someone else) nor are we armchair experts, but it's quite interesting to dissect and analyze what, why and how the crumbling occurred. Most likely home soil pressure, since he was expected to win the title. Prior to his walking into the courts, the announcer made a grand statement, saying welcome the world no. 1, the current world champion, our hero... Just goes to show how important the mental aspect is in sports.
A short statement from V-A on FB Unfortunately I lost out in the QF to Srikanth yesterday, who played a good match. I had my chances in the 2nd set, but didn't play well enough to deserve the win. Thanks for all your support this week! It has been great to play here in Odense 昨天2-1输了。对自己的表现不太满意,但是从失败中可以学习很多东西。谢谢你们大家对我的支持!安赛龙
