oh no! I was super excited about getting the TK-F and stringing it the way TTY does just to find out she doesn't even use it edit: just had a quick glimpse through TTY's French Open matches and her racquet is definitely a repainted TK-F
Yonex is doing this for ages and nobody seems to care. It's just pure horror for every marketing department if your most valuable top stars are staying with old equipment for so long while you are trying everything possible to convince the world that your latest sh*t is 1.2% better/faster/steeper than everything else before.
Wow, that's the most obvious repaint to date. Well done Victor! It never ceases to amaze me how retarded these badminton companies' marketing departments are. Best example at the moment is Son Wan Ho, using the impossible to get MX80. Why not make an MX80 MkII, get him to use it and sell it to the public? You know, like, capitalise on a sponsorship? And - perhaps more poignantly - seeing you're the one paying their sponsorship, how about you say 'Here's our current line-up of rackets, pick one to play with' (As opposed to "Oh we're so ever grateful that you're playing with our equipment. Sure, use an outdated racket nobody can buy.")
Agreed - players being seen to be using non-current rackets is like having them drink Tab Clear during the coaching break. You sponsor players to shift gear!
Goes to show that even pros are sensitive to different racket specs. And some of us maintain that they can play with any racket...
Victor picked up on the buzz that people realised it was a repainted TKF and changed their promo picture Good job marketing team!
it was already picked up upon, we just have to wait and see how successful their 'address to the issue' is. Victor Jetspeed 12 !
Maybe when the cake is no longer a lie? Victor was caught with its hand on the cookie jar Good job indeed Victor marketing team!
Now I'm wondering if brand ambassadors are to a degree also "duty bound" to report such marketing anomalies to the consumers somehow.
Interesting read as I haven't been following what's been happening. I honestly thought TTY had changed and wasn't paying attention to the racket. We are getting TKF in 2018. Does this mean that Lee wasn't using TKF in the French? Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
During the Korean Open it looks as if TTY was still playing the real deal. At least the rackets she got strung look like true TKFs: ...and she went home after round 2. Thinking back, wasn't it the same story with her playing the HX800 for a couple of (unsuccessful) tournaments before moving back to the TK7000S?
that makes me wonder, what kind of racket is tk7000? it has some supernatural ability? like Tai switches to a different racket, things donot go her way, she switches back to tk7000 and voila takes Akane to cleaners! Not exactly causal is result of her racket change with winning but.........
