    Nothing to be sad with Taufik.

    He is the youngest olympic and asian games champion? easy to get lost after winning the biggest event when you are that young. If LCW have won everything, will he still care about all the tournaments?

    LCW looks killer judging by his first round match, destroyed Hsu Jen Hao, a quite dangerous player, 5 and 7, he really seems fired up and lethal, his opponents better be prepared for a storm

    If this was 3 to 4 years back, with LD out, it is LCW's to lose but now, we are not too sure, looking at his last few tournaments.

    Don't know ma. Reports said that, LCW might change that.
    Also apparently, LCW won't go to Dubai even if he qualified by merit, because he wants to be fair to his family. Plans might change too.

    the guy plays so many Superseries, he is supposed to rest, he doesn't rest enough to peak for the big tournaments and then goes and plays more superseries....:confused:

    Well we're talking about LCW here, a man who used to play 20+ tournaments per year on a back to back basis.
    Not sure he really feels comfortable winding down even at the age of 35! :D

    I'm not so sure he is benefitting much from the 'rest and prepare for big tournaments' thing...maybe he relaxes too much when he's away from genuine competition, or his camp cant prepare him that well, but the difference between him having a concentrated preparation the the Chinese team having one is absolutely huge. I still remember how the Chinese tore up the 2009 AE after a 3-month bootcamp, LD and Fu/Cai were absolutely lethal. Same with the 2012 and 2016 Olympics....cant say the same for LCW, sadly.
    Also, he doesnt have a huge tournament coming up anyway, so what's the harm in playing a SS and maybe getting a few wins to boost the confidence back up?

    The difference between the CHN camp and LCW is CHN has a big pool of sparring partners for them to prepare for the big tournaments while LCW have to rely on pre big tournaments for him to stay sharp.
    I am sure this has been discussed before.

    Sure, but it bears repeating some people like to say "Oh he should have rested", while some of his worst tournaments ever have been those he took time off to prepare for. Other players have done well without great sparring partners by the way.

    The thing is, it was Hendrawan who said LCW needed some time off - not some internet nobody.

    Think this time would be reversed results. Two straight games in LCW's favour.

    Yes, that is what I would like to see as well. But we can never call it too early. I think if he takes G1 easily then it'll be two straight, but if Leverdez plays well then LCW might tense up and crumble again.

    Sounds crazy saying that about one of the most experienced players on the tour but deep down we know it‘s true.

    This match may be vital to LCW's career, that WC loss shattered his confidence, he himself said so. If Leverdez does it again (Or LCW shies away and loses it), I think LCW's confidence will be at an all-time low, and I am having trouble seeing even him coming out of it. If he wins, he finally gets that demon off his back, and he can acknowledge the worlds loss was a once in a lifetime fluke, and that he can do much better next time {Maybe even achieve his dream of a world title, who knows, you can never count out greatness}

    If LCW loses too, he and LD seriously need to retire before it gets a little too late. No more to prove, they've achieved a lot.
