If RI who has qualified goes easy on her last match and SJH upsets TTY, then CYF goes through.

This TPE pair is not going to trouble the experienced Danes.

If RI goes easy on CYF tomorrow, then CYF has a chance. I think RI might go easy on CYF on Friday since RI obviously doesn't want to face TTY again in the final on Sunday.

If VA beats CTC, VA is through. KS will then have to beat SYQ 2-0 to progress.

Yes, I am assuming VA beats CTC tomorrow.

By the way, are the final group matches being played simultaneously to prevent any advantages to any party?

Not surprised, SYQ always has the goods to beat the top dogs, he almost beat Srikanth once just barely lost that.
    People greatly underrates SYQ.

My guess is no. Match duration varies a lot. You would have to introduce a lot of waiting time in each round, because you would have to wait until both matches of a round have finished before you could start the next round.

Now let us see whether Chou Tien Chen can do some upset over Srikanth.
After all he already beat him once in Dubai.

there is a rule that the final match must be played at the same time somewhere in BWF documents (just can't remember where it is)

however, I think it concerns the players from the same country

but of course why don't do it as well in case of the current condition, the possibility to set the match at the same time is already there anyway (depends on how many matches needed to be held at the same time of course)

There seems to be some instability in the China coaching setup recently. Are we expecting lots of changes after the departure of the
controversial LYB. Will Zhang Jun be replacing him?

Should expect something interesting to emerge during the start of the new year.

The possibility is there. But you would not know when because the match duration is unknown. The worst case scenario is a round where one match is 30 minutes and the other 90 minutes. It is definitely possible but there are costs.

The whole concept of having the two best players advance is great for group play as it alleviates the situation where the two best players/pairs/teams are in the same group. Playing the final matches simultaneously prevents situations where someone would lose on purpose. This is terrible when the match duration varies as much as in badminton. Instead, they tend to draw randomly where the 2nd place players from the groups end up in the draw. Good idea! Except.. it ruins the purpose of having two players advance in the first place.

So it bites itself in the tail.
Conclusion: Making groups because you want to make sure the second best player can get to the final even if he/she is in the same group as the best player, is really only suited for sports where the match duration is fixed. Otherwise, expect "side effect".

    I know I know
you don't need to preach me about the strength/weakness of group play
I was just giving you information about the possibility of parallel on-going matches
