Will I be correct to say SYQ will want to win SK tonite to avoid Lcw tomorrow? Thanks Sent from my VIE-L29 using Tapatalk
i was disappointed at TTY and BWF in general. with NO, Marin, Lin Dan and Chen Long absent, it was not a good tournament to start with. with TTY now gone under these circumstances, i think it is fair to say this Superseries Finals is not a successful event despite a prize tag of US$1,000,000.
if last year winners face each other ... then I'm quite certain there will be a re draw for SEMIS .. to avoid fixing the opponents... I hope LCW and ax don't meet tomorrow to set up a dream final
A group winner faces a runner up. I don't think it has to be the one from the other group (to prevent players playing the system like the Olympic WD). Although, with only two groups, it hardly matters.
I was expecting RI to lose in 3 sets, so that she still top the group, it was as expected. I am sure she doesn't want TTY to be in the other semi-final.
I am surprised HBJ lost to Sato. Obviously couldn't see the match, but from what I witnessed this tourney, Zhang Ning has had extremely good impact on HBJ, she looked fitter and more "daring" such scoreline is complete shocker. I thought HBJ could finally do something next year, and was just in a bad group, considering AY's and PVS's form. Alas, wait longer
Frankly, I'm not sure whom IR prefers to play in the knock-out stage, TTY against whom she has a 9-8 favourable H2H record or CYF against whom she is 0-3 (twice this year, at the WC in Aug and the JPN Open in Sep) before the match today. But one thing I'm sure is CYF has much more incentive to win this match than IR who if pushed hard might prefer to save energy for the final two rounds instead. And should IR and CYF meet again later, I think at this time IR has the slight edge in terms of experience and skills, imho.
Given the result of the other group, I'd try to win today if I was Sindhu and I'd be very relaxed about not winning if I was AY.
