As far as I know, that is the rule set by BWF But I can't remember precisely the terms and conditions
Beiwen played very well! Her skill on defense was superb and broke down Sindhu's attacks and this lead to Sindhu making mistakes as the pressure mounted. Beiwen played a very mature game and was determined and composed until the very end. Very impressive to beat Olympic/WC silver medalist on home soil.
Unfortunately, Zhang Beiwen is 27 years old already, not much time left to make it big in her career if her success at the IND Open is not a one-off performance. So far her best results have been a runner-up at the French Open SS 2016 and six GPG/GP level titles, and seven Int'l Challenge/Series titles. I doubt she'd want to go back to China as the competition is too keen, better to choose a lesser badminton country where her services will be much more valued and the contractual terms offered substantially attractive. I think it's best if Singapore , her previous country of representation before moving to USA, can make her an offer she can't refuse as the tiny country has a crying need for a top WS player to boost and uplift their badminton,. the same way they once did with remarkable success for their table tennis.
zhang is a special player, she excel when there is no restriction from the association, i remember how she struggle to play for singapore but now she is a champ, i don think she want to go back and be bound by so much things

ZBW left China for Singapore at the age of 13. She became a Singaporean when she was 16 in 2009. Unfortunately she fell out with SBA in 2011. In 2012, she played in US Open and made it to semi-final. She decided to stay there. She did well in French Open 2016 but didn't enter HK or Macau Opens because the hotels arranged by the organizers are too expensive, requiring US$3000. In the US, she has no coaches or team support. She has to do coaching part-time to make a living. She got the green card already now and may become a US citizen in 2018 in the earliest.
