The only reason Qiao Bin is even here (& in the Thomas Cup selection) is because the other CHN MS in his generation (Tian Houwei, Wang Zhengming) have already given up on CHN's national team -- he never had the skills/consistency of a top 10 player (top 20/15 at the most), just the physicality. The 21-17/21-16 score is misleading -- LCW did not really bother to accelerate in either game until around 14/15-14/15; then he more or less pulled away... But I do think LCW is playing more "clever" these days (ever since Commonwealth Games 2018) -- so I wonder if he's ever going to pull out that 400km/h smash again?
If Xi Jinping cant get Lin Dan to play in court one he should resign. WTF is "Xi Jinping thought" all about.
Is there a way to watch replays of matches? I'm asleep during most of the games, and I can't read chinese, so I'm not sure if zhangyu offers that capability.
There a few Youtube channels and Facebook pages streamed it I think. Anti SCM News in Facebook for example.
As I said......lost in R1. Snub or no snub, even if LD played centre Court, he will still lose. This is to be expected for low paying tourneys when the top prize is like tops $20K. So, for 5 rounds equals $4K per round and let's say average 60 minutes per round = $66 per minute. Not worth to sweat. LD prolly thunk, if don't participate gets fine from BWF, if play all out and so low pay, how??? The way to judge if LD actually play all out and then lost is when the tournaments are majors. If LD plays Stanley Cup, he will be at his best. And at 3rd singles, guarantee 1 win for Team CHN. Bet all my goldfish and guppies on this
This isn't BWF event, it's by BAC. How about your prediction over Lin Dan at next open tournament: NZ Open which is lower grade than this event?
Those kiwi are lucky this chap even show up...and to fly long distance to play what down under??? Okay, have to see who are the participants first. If those players are 3rd tiers, and if LD can play easy to win, then LD may toy with those fellas and put on a show for those kiwi down under. Otherwise, my prediction book another early flight home...but first check out if LD actually shows up at all
LD prolly played somewhat serious in the first set and that is all you folks are going to get for such a cheap tournament when this chap had won 4 times already. Run out of cabinet space to store another medal. LD prolly thunk to be generous and give those Indian chaps or that Son Wan fella a chance to win
It's just a meme based on the western propaganda that CHN's president is an emperor who can do whatever he wants -- but in this case, the propagandist didn't get his facts/research right, because the current CHN president is a soccer fan... Not only that, a NON-fan "technocrat" has been appointed as the head of the government sports council for badminton to root out cronyism in the sport and make it more professional/commercialized-- that was probably the only way Li Yongbo (whom everyone else must give "face" to) could be removed. IOW, CHN badminton fans are having a hissy fit because the CHN government has prioritize making the sport more self-sustaining/governing instead of getting more golds/champions. But honestly, just like in INA, badminton is popular enough in CHN that it doesn't actually need more government "promotion" -- the respective badminton associations just needs to work on their professional sports management skills (like BWF) in getting more media coverage, sponsorships, youth participation, etc.. CHN fans are only beginning to realize how badly the CBSL has been managed/organized as sponsorship deals fall through and a host of players like LD remain unpaid to this day. The CHN meme about disappointing performances or no-shows from LD and other national players is actually: "Looks like LD/ ABC is still upset about not getting paid?" or "Seems like the CBSL owed XYZ money as well?"
I think it's obvious that having actually won world/international titles, both Lin Dan and Okuhara only see regional competitions like the Asia Badminton Championships as practice/ramp-up for the Thomas/Uber Cup.... Axelsen, though, will probably try to test himself by going all the way in the European Championship -- because it's his first tournament coming back from his injury/operation.
LD confirmed that he intends to fly to NZ -- because he didn't get enough practice/ ramp-up for the Thomas Cup with just 1 match in the Asia Badminton Championships... ;P
ROUND OF 16 (10.00am local time, 5 court) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...65918A-459C-48F8-BC12-70F18B5EAF67&d=20180426 *Match Highlights : - Lee Chong Wei (MAS) v Anthony Ginting (INA) - Shi Yuqi (MAS) v Kento Momota (JPN) - H.S. Prannoy (IND) v Wang Tzu Wei (TPE) - Gao Fangjie (CHN) v Saina Nehwal (IND) - Nitchaon Jindapol (THA) v Chen Yufei (CHN) - Inoue/Kaneko (JPN) v Lu CY/Yang PH (TPE) - Ahsan/Setiawan (INA) v Lee JH/Lee Y (TPE) - Chen QC/Jia YF (CHN) v Haris/Pradipta (INA) - Fukushima/Hirota (JPN) v Huang YQ/Tang JH (CHN) - Zheng SW/Huang YQ (CHN) v Choi SG/Chae YJ (KOR) - Zhang N/Lii YH (CHN) v Watanabe/Higashino (JPN) Four-time Asian Champion Lin Dan and reigning World Champion Nozomi Okuhara first round exit score BAC opening round headline. Badminton maestro Lin couldn't clear TPE hurdle Wang Tzu Wei whom he beat last month in All England second round. The below-par Okuhara was sent packing by Chinese potential newcomer Gao Fangjie, 15-21 / 21-23. The Japanese starlet was quite lack of accuracy yesterday and often pushed shuttlecock wide. In women's doubles, Dubai Finals winner Tanaka/Yonemoto also end their journey prematurely, lost narrowly to Korean Kim SY/Kong HY in marathon match, 21-19 / 21-23 /19-21 that hit 81 minutes of play. Men's singles top contenders book last sixteen spot, title-holder Chen Long and Lee Chong Wei beat their opponent in two straight-games victory while Srikanth Kidambi was pushed to work extra hard by the in-form Japanese player Kenta Nishimoto, second seed Son Wan Ho also through to next round. Today's intriguing clashes will pit recent All England champion Shi Yuqi against Japan talented ace Kento Momota and Lee CW will be challenged by Indonesian hotshot Anthony Ginting. Two CHN-IND women's singles encounters will present the giant-killer Gao Fangjie against Saina Nehwal and Chen Xiaoxin meets Pusarla Sindhu. Defending champion Tai Tzu Ying and former World Champion Ratchanok Intanok are expected to progress into quarterfinal. Home leading ladies Chen Yufei, He Bingjiao find complicated Thailand opponents, Nitchaon Jindapol and Pornpawee Chochuwong respectively. It's bad day for Japan, no representative remains in second round as both Sayaka Sato-Aya Ohori following Okuhara losing and Akane Yamaguchi absence. Without the invincible pair Gideon/Sukamuljo, men's doubles powerhouse Indonesia still secure four slots in today's second round, close rival China also staying power with four pairs. Women's doubles sixth seed, Polii/Rahayu who show tremendous development in less than a year almost bit the dust yesterday, experienced hard times to overcome Chinese relatively new scratch pair Huang DP/Li WM, 15-21 / 21-11 / 21-19 in 76 minutes. The Indonesians are slated to meet their nemesis, Matsutomo/Takahashi tomorrow. All England semifinal rematch will see Japan new sensation mixed doubles pair Watanabe/Higashino face home pair Zhang N/Li YH.
They still not getting paid? Thought they were all filing lawsuits a while ago. Actually, it was Court 4 Lin Dan who lost yesterday. Yyou can add that to your stats for the time being.
Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai put up a good fight in G2 to force extra points being 16-20 down but also wasted 3 of their own game points before losing eventually at 24-26 to Ricky/Debby. Not good enough from this #7 pair in the world rankings...
