That was beautiful to watch. I love how Momota has this aura of confidence without arrogance. He just gets the job done and looks comfortable doing it. Good fight from Chen Long towards the end though. Great badminton.

I don't know. Never seen them play against each other. Maybe not considering the age. Why would you throw LD in this anyway? You still think LD is the best player there is to beat?

???? at that time KM was going to be MS3 for JPN .... only after his win at Asian Champs that he got past his team mates in ranking and then became MS1 for Thomas Cup .... still at that time a lot of dumb answers to my perfectly valid question.... now those ppl stay quiet it seems

Didn't Momota beat Chen Long at the BAC? Why would Momota be an underdog if he just beat Chen Long not too long ago?

Chen Long's best games are never found in the team majors where he's been most vulnerable. Just compare how he played at the Rio Olympics and the World Championships, this is a tame version of Chen Long. But credit goes to KM who adopted the right strategy and tactics to restrict CL's strong points while maximising his own strengths, control and anticipation

He was China's other MS pick. People keep holding up LD as the player to beat.

Kento Momota's game is a good demonstration of how to play and limit an opponent's physical advantage

CL lost because CHN coaches couldn't get KM s syllabus out in time for CL to rote train. But KM s syllabus will be complex, not simple and predictable like LCW. CHN gotta dump the LCW syllabus and work massively on the KM one. LCW exam is easy. Every question there are only two answers, A or B. For KM, the multiple choice answers are A, Aa, B, Bb, C, Cc, Ccc, etc. Plenty of head scratching opportunities for CL. But the toughest part about KM is his incredible net control, the calmest mind and the highest Badminton Quotient.
