To me, Arisa is good at back court but normal front and normal defense which in xd women should be good at front and good back court(smash) is just a bonus. They can actually become top pair if she improve her woman role.

Equals the world record he set himself and hits another banger in the first game itself. What an athlete. Everything about that match was just perfect.

    FINAL (12.00pm) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...A2F1F1-666B-424C-B72A-8FC1421165A0&d=20180701
    • Japan and China have most representatives in final, host Malaysia and Chinese Taipei have 1 each.
    • Thomas Cup winner China doesn't meet expectation here, none of their aces step up to final, disappointing outing in singles category where Chen Long, Lin Dan, Shi Yuqi sent packing in first round, second round and last eight respectively
XD : Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong (CHN) v Wang Yilu/Huang Dongping (CHN)
    H-2-H : 3-0 / WR : 4 v 1
    • As predicted China camp secures one title here, both pairs enter finale with contrasting style, Zheng/Huang almost bite the dust, pushed into the limit by English married couple The Adcocks, luckily Huang YQ two superb services in critical moment brings the Chinese into last round, leaving world number 9 into huge disappointment.
    • Wang/Huang tackle the energetic Japanese young stars Watanabe/Higashino in convincing way, thanks to their fast attacking style to power past the Japanese.
    • Zheng Siwei may defend XD crown this year with different partner but never underestimate fast-improved Wang/Huang.
WD, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan (CHN) v Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi (JPN)
    H-2-H : 4-2 / WR : 2 v 4
    • An ideal WD final considering their credentials, World Champion v Olympic Champion. Both pairs outclassed their semifinal opponent yesterday.
    • Matsutomo/Takahashi are displaying more consistent, stable performance in 2018 calendar than the Chinese youngsters. But it's fierce competition between Japanese pairs, there're 3 or 4 pairs with same quality who often eliminated them in top-tier tournament. Japan WD is rising and raise their standard. On the contrary, not many good and excellent pairs in China squad nowadays, there's big gap that separating Chen/Jia and their compatriots.
    • Second final for Chen /Jia after they failed to top podium in MAS Masters Super 500 last January then a strings of unspiring performances hampered them to go further until they make amends in Uber Cup event despite CHN losing in semifinal.
WS, Tai Tzu Ying (TPE) v He Bingjiao (CHN)
    H-2-H : 4-1 / WR : 1 v 7

    • Incredible run in this season, Tai Tai Ying affirms her status as the best WS recently to realize her mission in World Championships and Asian Games. 5th final in a row since MAS Masters when she lost in very close contest to Ratchanok Intanon at that time. Tai eliminates Pusarla V. Sindhu once again in semifinal with her wizardry shots and good placement.
    • Resurgent He Bingjiao, the Chinese left-hander demontrates her excellent netplay combined with sharp smashes when he downed prominent shuttler Ratchanok Intanon yesterday. Once dubbed as China next big thing when He grabbed several titles post Rio OG 2016 but then her journey in senior stage didn't going smoothly even surpassed by her younger fellow countrywomen Chen Yufei. Now, she's back in title contention, the most important victory here arrived at quarterfinal when she finally beat Japan prodigy Akane Yamaguchi, no wonder He BJ & coach Xia XZ were really thrilled.
    • The last time He BJ bagged final berth was Japan Open 2017, lost to Carolina Marin.
MD, Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda (JPN) v Hiroyuki Endo/Yuta Watanabe (JPN)
    H-2-H : 0-0 / WR : 6 v 35
    • First time ever that Japanese MD pairs facing each other in high-level tournament.
    • Kamura/Sonoda fulfill the scenario when they dump inexperienced and giant-killer He JT/Tan Q but Endo/Watanabe derail final script to defeat more-favoured rival two-time Asian Champion Li JH/Liu YC, credit to unseeded duo fighting spirit and steely determination to give pressure on China pair.
MS, Lee Chong Wei (MAS) v Kento Momota (JPN)
    H-2-H : 1-1 / WR : 6 v 11
    • The much anticipated clash of today's five finals, most difficult test for home hero Lee Chong Wei to eye his 12th MAS Open crown, last year Lee succumbed to long-time archrival Lin Dan in final.
    • Kento Momota becomes unstoppable since won VIE IC last March followed by his phenomenal triumphant in BAC to beat Lee Chong Wei and Chen Long in semifinal and final respectively.
    • The battle of different generation, 35 years old Lee CW v 23 years old Momota, the Japanese has stamina, speed advantage to fight Lee's vast experience, technical skill and homecrowd fully support. Both finalists dominated semifinal match yesterday, Momota outplayed Srikanth Kidambi whilst Lee CW booked 17th winning over Tommy Sugiarto without much troubles.

Wonderful wrap up and delivery for this finale, CLELY. What can we do without you! :)

I am rooting for Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan, Tai Tzu Ying, Hiroyuki Endo/Yuta Watanabe, and Kento Momota.

Hopefully we are treated with good matches today!

I think the two CHN XD pairs are trying to gain a psychological advantage over each other going into the Olympic cycle next year

Huang Yaqiong is better at the front court area whereas Huang Dongping is stronger at the back but in XD having a smart and skillful woman player at the front while leaving the heavy lifting to the man is more important and effective, imo.

Perhaps it's just me but I feel that MD final without the Minions against the twin towers or Boe/Mo or Kamura/Sonoda is not exciting.
