The resilient player combined with stronger stamina Kanta Tsuneyama prevails against the explosive style Lee Cheuk Yiu.

I wonder why too. This is a huge match for the THA ace, yet we get WS on Court 2.

Unfortunately, Jun Hao's time is not now, despite his incredible comeback.

So Lu Guangzu survived R1 against Brice Leverdez in three sets, not too bad. Next, he's' up against Kenta Nishimoto.

Huang Yuxiang beat Darren Liew and will face another MAS player, Cheong Wei Feng.

Qiao Bin couldn't get past Tommy Sugiarto whose fine form continues.

For CHN WS, Zhang Yiman is the sole survivor, disappointing. Doubt she can go deep, not even QFs - her next opponent, Sonia Cheah, who defeated Nichaon Jindapol, is no mean player.

    Men’s Singles
    • All top contenders through to next round, however two seeded players sent packing early. Sameer Verma once again couldn’t pass opening round, this time tackled by home hopeful Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk. 7th seed Kazumasa Sakai also found exit door, lost to Chong Wei Feng.
    • At top-half of draw title contender Prannoy will take on former INA number one Sony Dwi Kuncoro and may meet Huang Yuxiang in last eight if the latter could overcome Malaysian Chong WF.
    • Bottom half of draw will see Kenta Nishimoto opposes China newest promoted player Lu Guangzu who won AUS Open Super 300 & CAN Open Super 100 in this season. The on-fire Tommy Sugiarto has home hurdle Tanongsak to seek quarterfinal spot.
    • A thrilling first round clash presents reigning Asian Junior Champion Leong Jun Hao pushed Thailand rising star Kantaphon Wangcharoen into the limit that lasted 84 minutes, 21-19 / 9-21 / 22-24. Another yesterday's close battle pitted two veterans, Rajiv Ouseph crawled back from behind in deciding game to down Hu Yun, 21-12 / 21-23 / 21-19.
    Women’s Singles
    • World Champion Nozomi Okuhara has chance to take revenge over Thailand newest talent Pornpawee Chochuwong who beat her in recent MAS Open Super 750 second round.
    • Lower-half draw offering some intriguing matches, Michelle Li versus Busanan Ongbamrungphan, Saena Kawakami against Indonesia future star Gregoria Mariska. Pusarla Sindhu is predicted to book quarterfinal without much trouble.
    • Thailand hope in this category lies on Ongbamrungphan and Chochuwong following Nitchaon Jindapol setback to Malaysian Sonia Cheah, 16-21 / 14-21.
In men's doubles department, seeding number 7 and 8 bite the dust, Hoki/Kobayashi lost to 2016 WJC Han CK/Zhou HD whilst Indian duo Rankireddy/Shetty find Thai independent pair Isara/Jongjit are too hot to handle. Japan women's doubles squad have not tested yet, they clear opening rival comfortably. Mixed doubles top-seed The Adcocks will find tricky test, Indonesian challengers Suwardi/Susanto.
