You could try by buying a lot of TISSOT watches and tell them this money is for Hawk-eye.:p

This brings us to the question why is the asian games the only tournament with no hawk eye? Indonesian open had it at the same stadium...Asian ganes being too old school?

Cost-cutting measures and lack of funds, what else.

'The Final' girl Sindhu almost got beaten by Vietnamese leading lady Vu Thi Thrang today. Fortunately she survived. Had the result gone the other way, every other player of the tournament would have given standing ovation to Mrs. Nyugen for her commandable work. Unfortunately, she missed the chance.

Gregoria Mariska waits for her tomorrow. With Home advantage in her hands, Gregoria will go all out on Sindhu. Is she ready for tomorrow's fight? . Exciting period ahead.

Gregoria Mariska continues to improve, she's beaten Akane just a few days ago, certainly a young up-and-coming INA WS to watch. For sure she's highly motivated on homeground before the vociferous and boisterous INA crowd, a sort of psychological advantage for the underdog especially.

We might be in for a surprise.

The bidding/arrangement for Asian Games is made at least 4-6 years in advance -- when it wasn't even a requirement for the Super Series -- you can ask, but not demand, someone to change the product you ordered more than 4 years ago...

That's why the Olympics and other events with long intervals/cycles typically "lag behind" in the rules and events fielded.

There is similarly no VAR for football, etc. -- hawkeye is not cheap (rental is charged by time) or re-usable like the Perspex glass used for judging service height.

The setup for instant review system(IRS), I am told, is rather expensive. BWF has a few of these sets, stationed in various confederations/regions. Plus the specialist personnel to set them up, plus this that, etc.
In the recent World Championship, the first match on the two IRS courts on each day do not have it operating. My take is that they needed some sort of real/raw data to calibrate the system(s) before declaring it operational for the day's play.
This IRS thing CANNOT be just a bank-full of HD cameras; otherwise how expensive can it be?!
Perhaps better informed forum members can shed more light on this?

Hm...it was there in rio right?
Anyways dont matter the judging has not been atrocious. We have to deal with it as badminton has dealt with for thousands of years until 2010s.

Akane lost all her matches in Asian Games Team Event. This is not the usual Akane. Sure, Gregoria (Jorji) shows significant improvements but I doubt It will be enough to beat Shindu, The Lee Chong Wei of WS. I guess Shindu will get another silver. Not sure for Gold, may be Nozomi or He Bingjiao or Ratchanok or Saina, who know.

Akane Yamaguchi didn't make any mistake in first game, 21-0 against Afghanistan player.
