Similar with All England & INA Open, this prestigious and star-studded event also offers lucrative prize-money and huge ranking point. The venue is switched from Fuzhou to Changzhou which usually staging China Masters in previous edition and time-slot also shifting earlier from November to September, sandwiched by just concluded JPN Open and next week KOR Open Super 500. Chinese players dominate the winner list since inaugural edition,1986. Host China made clean sweep thrice in 1987, 1995 and 2001. Worst episode and shocking result happened two years ago when none of them could top podium. Considering their quite struggling performance along 2018 season thus far, heavyweight burden for China to repeat last year three titles achievement, mixed doubles is the only exceptional case. *Most Successful Player/Pair in China Open* Men’s Singles : Lin Dan-CHN (2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011) Women’s Singles : Jiang Yanjiao-CHN (2008, 2009, 2010) ; Zhou Mi-CHN (1999, 2001, 2003) Men’s Doubles : Li Yongbo/Tian Bingyi-CHN (1986, 1987, 1988, 1991) Women’s Doubles : Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang-CHN (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) ; Ge Fei/Gu Jun-CHN (1994, 1995, 1997, 1999) Mixed Doubles : Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei-CHN (2011, 2014, 2015) 30th CHINA Open ~ 第30届中国羽毛球公开赛 Men's singles upper half draw will serve first round excitement, last year beaten finalist Viktor Axelsen gets the fighter Thailand darkhorse Khosit Phetpradab who made sensational run in Tokyo. Then home hero Lin Dan versus Indonesian rising star Anthony Ginting. World Champion Kento Momota is slated to face Srikanth Kidambi at quarterfinal, last quadrant comprises unpredictable plot where potential early upset may occur. Second seed Shi Yuqi meets tough opponent Tommy Sugiarto also 8th seed Ng Ka Long opposes Indian number two Prannoy. If everything goes to normal script, we'll be treated to watch Tai Tzu Ying-Carolina Marin prematurely. Tai will take on local teen Gao Fangjie, still fresh on memory how Gao tackled prominent names en route to final in same event last year. Other seeding players, Ratchanok Intanon and Nozomi Okuhara have tricky test to clear opening hurdle, Zhang Beiwen and Michelle Li respectively. Bottom-half will see two home leading players, Chen Yufei-He Bingjiao alongside with former champion Pusarla Sindhu and title-holder Akane Yamaguchi complete the seeding position. The invincible duo Gideon/Sukamuljo seek China Open hat-trick and looking bright prospect considering their consistent and solid performance in BWF World Tour, challenge for other participants to break their winning streak. Closest rival will coming from reigning world champion Li JH/Liu YC who succumbed meekly to world number one in JPN Open final couple of days ago. Some intriguing first round to follow, Liu C/Zhang N versus Ahsan/Setiawan, Alfian/Ardianto against Kamura/Sonoda, Li/Liu meet TPE pair Lu CY/Yang PH. China women's doubles squad played well in Tokyo to down top-ranked Japanese pairs despite couldn't end successfully in last round. It's interesting to notice whether they will reproduce fine form at home soil. Defending champion Chen/Jia are expected to through into last four and face either top-seed Fukushima/Hirota or world champion Matsumoto/Nagahara. The Olympic Champion Matsutomo/Takahashi are strongest contender to enter last round, they have possible semifinal meeting with Polii/Rahayu. Home underdogs like Du Y/Li YH and Huang DP/Li WM may reject their last four berth. Home favourite Zheng/Huang have difficult task to clear opening round, none but Malaysian veterans Chan PS/Goh LY who stretched the Chinese lethal duo into three games at JPN Open semifinal. Soon to be retired Liliyana Natsir shows up here after missed last week Tokyo meet. Second seed Wang/Huang have more comfortable draw to check into last eight when they're predicted to face Danish combination Christiansen/Pedersen. First round has two days competition, Tuesday & Wednesday as qualification round isn't required. come on it's just 1 dollar. Previously they get money from ads...now that ads no longer available..need to find other ways
LDK the short time korean sensation ousted right ? Besides i just noticed him since Japan Open he performed well there and nothing much about him...I dont see his name in OLY medals list or WC Medalists list, but given his current performances..I think hes a player that could give upsets any day..so the circuit of current players need to be careful of him
