SY is making too many simple errors. He is not ready to be the world champion, I am afraid. I make it a straight sets win for KM.

    Poor boy..
He's going to go home play some PUBG. And turn off his phone and not surf Chinese bbs. Tonight the chinese netizens are going to curse his whole family to death.

he played final, that is just one step short of championship. remmember last year final in All England? "poor boy" against Lcw and next year - win. lost final makes stronger, and I expect many more finals, between these two. to win against Momota one have to be creative, as he play relatively straight forward but exceptionally stable in all aspects. Lets wait for Shi to come with solution.

Hope Sun Jun works with him more. Sun Jun was an extremely intelligent player. Shu needs to work on his rally style more. It is not the same level as his attack.

Why do you always refer to Shi Yuqi as Shu? Did I miss something?

The boy decided to go on weibo.. in the end a lot of arguing went on between the 'fans' and him.
Some silly chinese netizens are not happy that the japan national anthem is played in Nanjing.
Some even suggested Lin Dan put on a great show to let him go through yet he did not win in the end

It's tough being a chinese badminton player. a lot of comparison with GOAT and there are a lot of expectations to win and dominate.
We wish him all the best. most importantly.... mentality

Can't believe what Shi Yuqi said during the mid-game interval in his match with Ng Kah Long at the China Open today (Fri, 21st Sep 2018)
    http://sports.sina.com.cn/others/badmin/2018-09-21/doc-ihkhfqnt4831494.shtml

In response to Chen Yu's technical advice, SYQ actually responded thus:" I've no idea what I'm playing, anyway, just get the shots over, I don't know what to play, or where to play the shots..."

My goodness, what's with him ? How's he going to take on Momota tomorrow ?

Thanks for translating Justin, elite sportsman are very strong psychologically,
if he's lost it in his head, then he has no chance against KM. :(

Exactly, even LCW who sometimes choked when playing Lin Dan never said such words. A sign of self-defeatism on Shi Yuqi's part, disturbing for someone aiming for the top and , atm, China's best hope in MS.

may be the coach was just saying right words in the wrong moment, or was wrong altogether, the player have to respond somehow in addition to keep the right mindset to continue the match.

His play against Momota certainly looked like he had no game plan whatsoever. Quite disappointing! I don't want to see him become just another runner à la Du Pengyu, Chen Jin and Tian Houwei. So far it looks like he only knows how to play his compatriots -- Lin Dan and Chen Long -- and the other opponents are beaten by sheer physicality, rather than tactics, which doesn't work against Momota.

Felt like Shi went into the game with ZERO hope in winning so he just played like whatever. Kept lifting to Momota's forehand instead of backhand. Momota just casually smashed into Shi's backhand side for easy points. Shi has potential. Need to work on his mental game for sure.

Should be a good final, i like Ginting with his explosiveness, great court coverage and good at the net too,
maybe not as good as Momota deceptively and defensively but on his day he could cause an upset,
smart money is still on Momota though.

Momota is unplayable, untouchable and unbelievable,
i really can't see anyone near him at this moment in time or in the horizon.

I think Ginting will give him a lot of trouble today! Or might even win!

About SYQ, he was lifting to mid court ... maybe there is something else going on in the chinese training camp if he is saying stuff like that. Not satisfied with the coaches maybe or a fight?
