I had a hit of AS 90 recently. There are similarities to JS12 and I preferred the new racket. Weight was a shade heavier in the head but the frame felt faster. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
I thought AS 90 will replace Jetspeed 10 as Goh V Shem switched to this one. But based on your comment that is not true. Has Victor announced any new model that has similar specifications to Jetspeed 10?
Take switchs of pros with a pinch of salt and don't be fixed on this. Commercial JS10 4U to AS90 difference is a total different story to GVS MYP JS10 (3U) to AS90. According to my infos the MYP JS10 is very different to the commercial one (more head heavy and stiffer). Also chances that GVS has a custom or MYP AS90. Same for Lee Yang who won't used a commercial JS10. We also don't know what Paul got and refer. I suspect 4U JS12 to AS 90 4U?
the matrix top right corner refer to overall weight or balance point, head heaviness ? Because the chart i saw the ars90s was way below the js12 and was in the headlight category/more even balance like the js10 but less stiff thanks for sharing
Depends which JS12 we’re talking about - in terms of balance - true 3U Gen 1 JS12 I have are fairly similar to the AS90 in terms of the balance. However the 2 x JS12M I have are much head heavier than both!
Hmm the differences between your JS12 and JS12M IME are just manufacturing inconsistencies. My 2 JS12M and my current JS12 both feel much the same, except one of the 12Ms is noticeably abit more weighty at the top of the frame but the measurement data is largely the same. I really think Victor should use this poor QC to their advantage and may be classify their differences by labelling them on the racquet just as they label their "U" weight classification. I guess for a lot of people this probably wouldn't matter, but for enthusiasts who can feel the difference in a couple of grams of head weight this would.
Victor can't fulfill high QC standards. Look how much highends they bring out in a new launch of a series in one go. This is really insane. They need to focus on 4-5 rackets for a launch instead of just one like Yonex do. IMO they should manucture one naked racket model a once and then they can sort out out with weight and balance for painting. If the balance and weight is different they can built 4 groups for sorting and bring out 4 models. Their models are all damn close so, a step like that will bring advantages. A whole production and molding in one go - sorting out - painting each kind different et voila -> lauching four different models.
Why does that sound familiar? Oh right. LN is doing that right now IMO Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
In the interests of research thought I’d do a bit of measuring: AS90 - 295mm / 92g JS12M x 2 - both 300mm / 90g JS12 - all 295mm / 2 x 91g and 1 x 93g All 3U - all strung with VBS68 / all grips with cushion wrap and GR262/3 overgrip. Cheers Ben
3U for sure. Hopefully first production run that goes on sale will have 87g for me to choose. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
Currently, I'm clearly tending towards 3U too. But I have to say, the AS90S will have to face a damn tough competition against the evil siblings N7II/N9II.
