which is why i hope the mizuno guy in the other forum responded to my question :)

Thanks for your help.. so basically my racket is strung the way it is supposed to, with exception of one missing cross string @s_mair and @Kaelhdris

oh darn yes they do.. and you know what.. the top knot and bottom knot are on the same side of the racket (right side) and the top knot is indeed sucked into the grommet. (i think you see something like a knot on the top left.. i dont know what that is.. camera dirt maybe. LOL)

    Yes.
Unless that bottom knot is a starting knot, but that seems improbable.

If they do the mains side-to-side then forget about all the other minor details like a missing cross string. That's one of the biggest no-nos you can do to a frame.

My advice: Look for a different stringer! Now!

The missing cross string is fine. It's the TTY gimmick. I'd be more worried about the frame being compressed (unless it's the picture that makes it look wide) and that ugly starting knot position. Looks like it was strung side to side.

TTY refers to the ladies singles player Tai Tzu-ying. She has her rackets strung by her father who uses that pattern, skipping 3rd bottom cross string. However, the knot location looks wrong and is strange to do it that way. It looks like somebody had a go but didn't get it quite right probably because the racket does not have the same number and location of shared holes and they did not plan the pattern properly before doing it.

Agreed. 10 bucks that the mains were done side to side.

The missing cross is nothing to worry about.

100% a from one side to the other. Look at this "tower"-knot. That's a starter for side to side and not a simple tie-off.

The only thing you need to do is to look for a decent stringer (ask around in your club for recommendations) and tell him what string and tension you want. Then relax and leave the details to the stringer. The ZF2 has a super standard Yonex pattern, so that's no big deal at all. The only reason why you as a player should involve in those details would be if you consider to start stringing.

Looking at the squashed head shape and the rest of the previous string job, I would highly recommend not to use your previous stringer again. He's most likely a sloppy butcher.

    I agree.
To be honest, it doesn’t make a lot of a difference having a standard stringing pattern on the racket.
After all, it’s the player wielding the racket that wins the rally and not just the racket.

Hi, if your location is correct, here's an old thread for some info. Recently a buddy of mine strung his racket at Queensway Shopping Centre, $10 labour, 1 hr wait. There's a few shops there. Cheers!

    Hi,

Here's the Carlton Exhybrid Lite stringing pattern:

Is it safe to string the cross bottom up instead of starting at L20 & L21?

    Thanks!

it will be safe. but starting cross in the middle gives the best feel.

Thanks Kwun! Will it be okay to start cross from the middle for conventional rackets that are instructed to string bottom up? Just curious to try for the "feel" and I'm not worried about warranty on my own rackets.

For now I hope to buy this Carlton racket & string it up :)

Safe up to which degree? I mean you can do anything at 24lbs. But is is proven by you at higher tension past 30 as well? Most racket heads don't have the most material and strongest construction at this area for aerodynamics.

    Hi,

I'll string it 26lb & follow the manufacturer's instructions. Interesting to see cross starting from the middle, so many things to learn! Waiting for the racket to be shipped :)

    Thanks!
