Though his smashes may be not the most powerful, he does make up for it by being a lefty which can cause surprises on the receiving end. Just look at Ginting. Easily one of if not the best smash in the game currently and he's a total wimp. It can be done.

I know this is a thread about yuta/arisa but I just watch the thomas cup final again when yuta play with sonoda, and damn...that's much more positive badminton compared to when he played with endo. lot of flat play, fast tempo, it's good to watch. idk, but I feel like yuta didn't really showed his full potential when he play with endo in MD, sometimes they're just too defensive in my opinion. I hope yuta could find a partner similar to sonoda in the future, someone that can play fast and a bit more attacking.
Yeah. And 'celebrating' mistakes each and everytime make them lose their focus. At one point in the match PJB talked to Higashino in a rather complaining way. And they both started to play seriously and not smiling or looking around when making mistake. They looked angry. That's when they started to play well. But then they forgot and quickly came back into the celebrating mistakes frame of mind. It is also a discipline thing I suppose.
Yeah. So basically that's why I put celebrate between inverted commas. I've noticed for quite a long time that both of them especially Arisa would make certain face expression or gesture when making a mistake. As if saying, 'ouuuh I just missed that' or 'if that'd worked it would have been an amazing play' ... i've labeled this as 'celebrating' a mistake. I've noticed that in a certain football player, Olivier Giroud as well. Of course you are frustrated when you make a mistake but you cannot for each point have to react to it in such a way. What others do such as HYQ/ZS ... they quickly move on their focus to the next point instead of taking 2 - 3 seconds reacting to a mistake. That's my personal observation, of course I might be very wrong.
@Quentin11 The worst - by far - with this behaviour is Chiharu Shida. She wastes the majority of time between points on displaying her displeasure with her previous rally/shot to the world with overblown gestures. Can't understand why coaches sit there and watch that, it must harm concentration. Didn't really notice it in Higashino until you mentioned it.
Even though I fell in proper love with Chiharu Shida, I only watched 1 of her matches. Only the 5x 'Hai' caught my attention. But to me this is something which cannot be good. Others are not doing it and are more serious. Celebrating a win and reacting to a mistake leads to different state of the mind. But check when they started to play well yesterday. They weren't losing time reacting to mistake and they played well.
This behaviour was really obvious with Shida when she played XD in the SF of the AJC this year. She and her partner (Kobayashi Yugo <Tonami>) were vastly inferior to their opponents (WataHiga) anyway, but matters weren't helped by the fact that she would squat down and cover her mouth after every shot she missed (and there were quite a few), looking around at her partner with a half-laughing expression say, "Oh no, I have done it again". It was obvious which way the match was going and, as it was actually the last match of the day, roughly a quarter of the audience walked out at the interval between G1 and G2.
That is just her personality and nature to be expressive and emotional. Nothing bad or purposeful time wasting there. Add a bit of youth and perfectionistic traits there and she's bound to scold or laugh at herself once a while. (Laugh means she's actually enjoying her game). It'll improve as she matures with age.
