Terry Hee Yong Kai, originally born in Penang, Malaysia, just like Loh Kean Yew and his elder brother Loh Kean Hean, went back to Penang. Crystal Wong Jia Ying is no longer in Singapore. She went overseas to further her studies. Yao Lei is back in China and she is no longer in Singapore Yes another lady player: It seems Ong Ren Ne went to Scotland to further her studies. She forms a permanent XD partnership with Jack Macgregor from Scotland to play XD matches since 2018 till now

The 18-year-old overtook Malaysia's Goh Jin Wei, making it the first time that a Singaporean badminton player - in either junior or senior categories - made it to the top of the BWF's ranking system. Her professional title wins include last July's Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Grand Prix, as well as the Yonex Dutch Junior International crown in March this year. She also won the Badminton Asia Under-17 Junior Championships title in 2015. Yeo will next be in action for the senior Crown Group Australian Open later this month, as well as the Yonex Open Taiwan from June 27 to July 2. Before heading for August's SEA Games in Malaysia, Yeo will also be playing in the Asia Junior Championships in late July. The Singapore Sports School graduate said she was initially unaware of her latest accolade: "I didn’t know that I was actually the world junior number 1, as it was my parents who notified me." "I feel thankful to see my progress from my training and competitions. Take it more positively. They help raise our standards and keep Singapore's flag flying in the sporting world. Some remained behind, settled down and continued to coach and train our athletes. Many of Singapore's pioneer leaders were not born here. Politicians like Toh Chin Chye, Goh Keng Swee, etc. They came mainly from then Malaya and as far as Sri Lanka. But they helped us to fight against great odds and contributed to what Singapore is today.

Yes, and they ought to. Again LKY and YJM had easy passages to the singles semis winning in straight games of under 10 points for both games. I don't think they will be stopped tomorrow although one would expect a better fight from their opponents. In particular, LKY will face Chao Huang who defeated Marcus Wijanu dwi Christanto 21-14, 21-19. CH had to toil hard for the second game and looked very tired at the end of it. Strong crowd vocal support helped the heavier CH to overcome his fatigue and he prevailed. Against LKY, CH will face more difficulties as the former is much faster and fresher. In MD, Wesley Koh/Junsuke Kubo put up a spirited fight before going down to C. Danny Bawa/Loh Kean Hean 21-17, 21-14. Another well-fought MD match was between Howin Wong/Aaron Yong against Bimo Adi Prakoso/Royston Loh which the former won in the decider, 21-16, 20-22, 21-9. The only other rubber match was the XD between Rizky Hidayat Ismail/Shinta Mulia Sari and Andy Kwek/Citra Putri Sari Dewi which the former won 22-24, 21-15, 21-16.

Credit goes to Jaslyn Hooi and Lee Weihong who each managed to win a total of the same number of 29 points. I also expected Danny Bawa C and Tan Wei Han to win the XD although they are a relatively new partnership but they have lots of experience in this department. They did so in straight games giving away again a total of 29 points to Shinta and Rizky. In MD, I thought Danny and Loh Kean Hean should win but their very determined Indonesian opponents came back from the first game down to take the remaining two games. LKH made too many unforced errors. I was surprised that Lim Ming Hui and Citra Putri Sari Dewi won their WD title rather comfortably. They combined well and the more powerful Citra impressed with her smashes and cross-courts drives while the taller Lim made her presence felt at the back.
