Is the AS80X likely to be closer to JS12 than the AS90S?
Look forward to some reviews before I decide to splash some cash.

 

First statements said that it's close to JS11 so nothing like JS12
I'll be more precise when I'll have it in hand

I reveived my AS80X yesterday. Strung it with LN1 at 27x28lbs straight away and had a few hits with it.

Mine is 4U.

Frame profile is very similar to my JS11 but the frame size is bigger. Paint job is good and there is nothing to notice while stringing, it's solid and my tension isn't an issue for this racket.

I just had a warmup session plus one set with it so there is just my initial opinion :

Clear is easy, i can clear shuttle from base to base without issue.

Feeling is close to my JS11, maybe a bit crispier.

I feel that it's a bit heavier than the JS11, despite being very similar on frame profile and stiffness, it plays quite differently than the JS.

The timing is significantly different and i struggled to find it. I mishit a lot which made me switch back to my JS11 after one set.
I'll return to it for a longer session on monday.

For the moment, the potential seems to be there as i managed to strike quite good smashes with it and i didn't have much issue with speed, it's quite on par with the JS.
I just have this timing issue which i'll try to solve on next session.

 

I saw a racket matrix, where the 80x was close to JS11, so your feeling must be spot on.
I'm confused about the difference between 90s and 80x, which one i more head heavy? Are they equally stiff?

EDIT:
I looked at this chart from Victor again and it was ARS 50 that was closest to JS11 and 80x was closer to JS10.
However in one of the few reviews I’ve seen of the 80x (from racquet champion) he states that it’s close to JS11. While in another of their reviews the 70k is said to be more like the JS10.

 

Is auraspeed 90s usable for singles play ?

Tbh I believe there is no such thing as dedicated racket for each singles or doubles. Just play with whatever you feel comfortable with.

 

Sure you can use a paring knife to cut a roast... but a carving knife would be much easier and get the job done faster.

It's your choice to use the right tool for the right job.

I've tried AS70K also few month ago, the stiffness is close to JS10 but i've found the AS70K significantly heavier than JS10/JS11.

I had another session with AS80K yesterday, misshit issue is done but i still can't get the full potential of the racket on full swing smash. I didn't manage to use the shaft flex properly on full swing smash to get the maximum power. Maybe i'm too used to the JS11, the AS80X seems to be a bit flexier, causing me troubles.

 

@razorei interesting that you feel the 80X to be flexier than JS11. Is your smash not as steep with 80X?

If this is correct, wouldn't it be strange for Victor to release two new rackets so close to each other as 70K and 80X?
I also first thought that the X-axis was the stiffness grade as in the Yonex charts, but in that case 80X would be as stiff as JS10 and 90S the stiffest, which I find hard to believe.

 

There a strange thing in this chart : JS11 is stated as HH (more than JS12) and flexier than JS12 also. If you compare the RRI, JS11 has higher RRI than JS12 so WTF???

My JS11 has a wet BP of 285 (strung with LN1 with RKEP overgrip G10) so not really HH

 

meh...... so it is slower and softer than js11 and with a head as big as plateau....

 

Not a very accurate comparison though, some people just play better with lighter, some with heavier rackets. Using one type of racket and the consistency it gives you far outweighs using a discipline-specific one to get a slight advantage power- or speed-wise.
Also, in the end, all the power you put into the shuttle has to be generated by you - being very efficient with one racket may again trump using one that would in theory be slightly better suited for the discipline

 

Little question, I was wondering if anyone could compare the flexibility of the 90s to an N9II? The 90S is pretty flexible compared to my 88S or JS10 and was curious about the N9II because I might try to get my hands on one but if its flexier than the 90S I don’t think I would be interested.
