Chen Long is at it again, he doesn't know how to do something different to turn the game around

I don't know what was happening.
he was playing cross net shot like Lee Chong Wei, defending like Momota, dropping shot like Watanabe, jumping-smashing at back line like Ginting, tricking shot like Lin Dan

How can Chen Long deal with ???

Let this be a wake-up call to Chen Long , that he must continue to work on his game, make the necessary changes, overcome his shortcoming(s), as he is still relying too much on his remarkable physicality to beat most of his opponents and failed to improve on other important aspects of his game.

@Baddyforall Both of us shared same opinions for BSP, but man he proved both of us wrong. I couldn't believe this was Sai Praneeth. Surely one of the finest performances, if not the finest by any Indian MS since 2018. Well done Sai. Good luck for tomorrow.

No wonder Sameer verma lost to him in straight games.

The problem is such results only happened once in a blue moon to the great majority of players. In other words, they lack consistency.

He is really trying to save his place in National team. His performances were lackluster lately. Is he trying to get a place in the quota for Olympics?

If you are looking for consistency, For Chen Long 's standards, he is so inconsistent . He do not have any good performances after Olympics. Nearly 3 years.

His performance in today's match was so explosive. So confident in every shot and not committing simple unforced errors , which Indians do a lot. Indian MS players tend to be very inconsistent. Let's hope he performs like this tomorrow. SYQ is in good form. If BSP maintains this level of play, which I think is very tough he can clinch second quota too. But yeah it's tough to predict as SV and HSP will also be there battling for second quota.

Chen Long's straight forward game is the disadvantage. No deceptions . Always controlled shots with a great defense. But if anybody shakes his defense and get past him in the points, he will be in extreme pressure and opponent use this as their advantage and defeat them.

At least he was consistent long enough before to garner three major titles and a host of other prestigious trophies. What have most of the rest to show for, beating the off-prime 30-year-old Chen Long in the semifinal of a WTS300 tournament ?

Even Chen Long is here for taking this "WTS300" tournament not for losing in the semifinals.

Oops I didn't see the match live, thought that it's going to be a walk in the park for Chen Long. Now feeling very happy for Sai. Will definitely watch the full match.

IMHO, Chen Long's problem is his game has been scrutinized and analysed rotten by every opponent, if he doesn't tweak his game, learn to read the opponent's game well and develop better anticipation, widen his repertoire of shots, add a healthy dose of deception - I predict he will suffer such 'unexpected' outcomes more often than in the past.

I venture to say, his heyday is over, I don't believe he can ever return to his pinnacle form of Rio'16. Just my opinion.
