Lol I don’t even see any guaranteed points for them if they face CHN. MS: SYQ is well capable of taking it to Momota, though Momota will probably be the slight favorite considering their last meeting WS: Chen Yufei can beat Yamaguchi, I’d say about a 50-50. Their matches have often gone to 3 sets. Nozomi doesn’t match up very well against CYF. MD: Interesting one. Watanabe/Endo match up better against Li Liu but fare poorly against Han/Zhou. Kamura/Sonoda match up better against Han/Zhou but do worse against Li Liu. WD: Chen Qingchen/Jia Yufan have shown they can beat multiple Jap pairs in a row. Based on current form, advantage CHN imo XD: I don’t think anything needs to be said for this It’ll be close for sure, nowhere in this universe is it a guaranteed win for JPN
Guys, are all the players paid (Hotels, Flights) to go for this tournament? I mean there are many other countries that are rarely involved in badminton. Is this the reason why Korea/Japan rarely hold WC/TUC,SC?
The funny thing is INA could have better chance to beat CHN than JPN imo. just because they meet in SF and have nothing to lose. But if CHN goes to Final, i dont think they will lose the title to JPN.
Are you sure China and Japan will take part in final round ? Look at the way Korea won in 2017, Sudirman Cup is quite risky, just one mistake and then the whole team can be lost. "1 category - 1 point" is quite risky to me
I don’t think so. That nothing to lose mentality may help, but INA WS and WD have close to no chance against CHN. They may possibly grab MS and MD, but XD is still advantage CHN (plus Praveen isn’t exactly the best under pressure). But we will see. At least JPN has a squad that can match CHN reasonably on all categories except maybe XD.
IMO the interesting thing team event is how the teams arrange to control the order of play to maximize their winning chance (not necessary to play from MS - WS - MD - WD - XD but arranging 1 player to do double duties could change it) and how they shuffle their doubles pair. I really want to see whether we could find any better partners for a particular player as in previous events, such as Watanabe/Sonoda or Chen Qingchen/Tang Yuanting, or maybe we could hope for Ahmad/Melati to make a formidable XD pair for INA . This is the unique thing we cannot see in individual tournaments
If China meets Japan, I wonder which XD pair they will send ??? Zheng/Huang is the best choice but look at All England, the points was so close. Quite risky if the match is the opening match and If Zheng/Huang lost, this can affect to the whole team. Wang/Huang is also good, but what will happen if Wang/Huang argue with each other ^-^ He/Du recently has beated Watanabe/Higashino twice but whether China coaches dare to send them to the big fight like Sudirman ??? ^-^
This actually is one of the most important 'play' in Sudirman Cup Trying to gain mental advantage by winning certain match is actually the most interesting part in the whole strategy towards the clash
