The NBA gave a press conference today, just to introduce the delegation's uniform and formal suits. Here's what Japan's players will look like:
Latest update : Sung Ji Hyun Pulls Out from Sudirman Cup => https://bwfsudirmancup.bwfbadminton.com/news-single/2019/05/08/setback-for-korea-sung-pulls-out/ Korea’s women’s singles spearhead Sung Ji Hyun pulled out of the TOTAL BWF Sudirman Cup 2019 citing a wrist injury, posing a challenge for the defending champions.
It may be difficult for KOR to progress further. Both SWH and SJH will be absent. But, this situation can be a blessing in disguise. This SC can be very well become ASY's time to shine brightly.
Taipei on paper should be on top of Korea with supreme lineup in MS, WS and MD. Korea should win vs HKG if ASY can outclass older senior HKG WS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I guess Taipei can go to semi-final and if they are lucky enough, they can go to final. the semi-final will be 4 teams: Japan-China-Taipei-Indonesia.
Read my post about it in Badminton Japan thread. Just compare the performances between these two pairs.
I went to check out the venue today around 11am, as I was approaching the players' exit door, Chen Long came out and was of the last players to board the bus. Following him coming out were men carrying drums and loading them on the bus. There were 2 uniformed guards guarding the entrance, and they wouldn't allow me into the venue. So I went around and entered through the main entrance without any problem, as there were a lot of workers still setting up in there. When I tried to enter one of the doors that leads to the spectators' stands, a guard came over and told me I wasn't allowed to enter until 12 noon. So I went around checking out other entrances, they were all guarded. So I didn't think of it as unusual since I had no experience covering any tournament in China, let alone a major one like this. I thought it was normal to be extra cautious in China. So I hanged around in the hot concourse sweating out as there was no a/c, and waited restlessly until noon. As soon as it was time, I went in to check out the venue and the lighting, etc. And then it dawned on me that all the guards had since left, there was none to be seen inside the venue. My only conclusion I could come up with was that they were hired specifically for the Chinese team on their private practice session, when they had the whole venue to themselves with no other team there, and no spying eyes watching. On a different matter, it appears Yonex is the sponsoring brand, as all the mats are the Yonex brand, 5 in the field of play, and 5 in the practice gym where the Yonex Stringing Team is also located.
I think this explains all.. Indonesian team was not allowed to use the main venue, they had to train in a local club. They were told the hall is unavailable until tomorrow. And anyway, Yonex is the main sponsor for all BWF Major Events.
If either Japan/China lost their group matches ( Finish 2nd ), is there chance Japan vs China in QF or no matter what happened they will be separated until Final and they will play other GroupWinner instead?
If both Japan and China top their group, they will be separated until Final. Else, anything can happen.
