I've got myself an ARS90S 4U. Only had one session with it so far but pretty impressed. Got the timing straight away. Will post again when I have had a couple more sessions.
Managed to spend 7-10hours with 80X, and the performance concluded with three words, 'more than amazing'... Let me know if anyone need some serious review on that..... To give a gauge on how I handle the games: I am a doubles player with an intermediate level of play. Used to be in school team in my earlier days.
Did you play last night at OCBC? I saw few people playing 80X last night. Does it feel heavy on the head?
Nope. I didn't play last night. I can definitely feel the tad of weight on the head slightly. However, the cool thing is it doesn't affect your maneuverability, whether in defence or fast play. Just take note that the stiff shaft would require your arm more than often. And, It doesn't flex as much as the 90s if you want to compare.
I will try to keep it short and concise. Just not so into long bull stories.... My personal take. I believed the majority here are looking at this categories: Speed - Power - Defence - My Conclusion. Victor Auraspeed 80X ----- Speed Department: + Excellent manuverability + Fast handling + Swift with stability Coming from a JS10 and BS12 user, speed is something we yearned for. The manuverability and stability is where 80X shine and perform so much better. Drop shots were fairly easy to execute while you are moving around the court gracefully. You will be in for a surprise how this thing moves so rapidly considering the tad of weight on its head. This is the first amaze... Power Department: + Effortless Clears + Excellent Drives + Good smashes In the power department, it was outstanding. Clears were crispy and direct (briskly). Drives were quick and stable (fast), and Smashes were pounding (downright power). The stiff shaft and tad of weight helps in the attack more than anything. I would definitely describe this as a Thor hammer rather than the WWE kind because the swing is quicker. This is a balance racket so, what's more to rave about. However, do note that the stiffer racket still requires your own contribution (ie. arm, muscles, back) to deliver. As for the second amaze, it will be none other than the recovery of full smashes. The dragging down is really subtle. Hence, you will always be ready for the next one until..... you or your opponent gives up. Defense Department: + Fast handling in all aspect I will only cover two important aspect, the smash block and smash lift (it include your smash counter). Blocking is a breeze, as long as u can reach it, the racket wouldn't let you down. It is fast enough to handle pressured situation such as under the armpit shots and shoulder smashes. Lifting is easy as long as your timing is right, the little head weight helps you to push even further. Thus, I do found myself countering a lot of shots wide... Conclusion: + Thor Hammer + Quick handling What else..... I round up with this -- 80X is an all rounder with aggressive and pounding capability.
Need some advice on picking up the next racket. Taking reference from a BS12 KRP original grip removed, currently with nitto tape, one layer of cushion wrap with ac102ex. Which Victor, Yonex, Li Ning racket and specs should I be looking at? Thank you in advance.
Never played with the KRP version but played extensively with BS12 last two years It will depend on what you’re looking for… Li Ning offers two great racquets with aerodynamic frame: N7-II and N9-II. I’m alternating between the two, and from what I understood about the BS12KRP (stiffer and head heavier version of the classic BS12) the N7-II might be the closest. It is stiffer and head heavier than BS12, more powerful when smashing, but less maneuverable. It is a great doubles racquet that offers lots of control. Its new version is called turbocharging 70. N9-II one the other hand has more give, same stiffness as classic BS12, head heavier, and wayyyy more powerful… Imagine a BS12 with added head weight… you’ve got the idea. It remains really good in defence for the power it offers, but not as good as N7-II. New version is called turbocharging 75
Hopefully the new version of mx80 possess at least the same noble traits as the old legendary mx80 or even better. . But for sure, the new color scheme is not as fierce as the old version.
it is so unpopular that no one has it thus it did not surfaced, anyway it should not even be called meteor actually, since the frame is way more like some hypernano repaint, which is quite awful :/
I actually have one. It's a perfectly alright racket on its own. But calling it an MX80 is rather insulting. Lacking the same string pattern or the classic evil 7.2mm extra stiff shaft already disqualifies it IMO. Anyway I can't comment on any sinking issue because I haven't used it enough times to even warrant a restring.. Stiffness is somewhere at JS10 levels maybe a tad bit more. The frame is actually distinctly octablade as it should be for a Meteor X. But it clearly is more refined from before. Edges are marginally smoother with the matte finish and it's just a quick through the air as it's predecessor. Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
I am only concerned with sinking wrt to victors. And I like the paint job and colours. The mx80b I am having is 4u. If only I can have the peace of mind of frame not sinking(thruster k8000 sinking made me anxious) then it is perfect
Dry swing ARS80X and it felt even balance. Just like ARC11 but maybe ARS80X has the potential to overpower the ARC11. TK BXR sure has the heavy head for 4U5 but i have a doubt to buy this racket for now.
