Its the final day of the AJC. China is assured of The WS and WD gold. Indonesia contests the MD and XD. Thailands Kunlavit Vitidsarn is the favourite for the MS..
I am more excited with the two rookie juniors, Dong Tian Yao and Tan Ning. Both had impressive wins. Looking forward to see them in future. Liu Liang did well against the Taiwanese players. They are usually very good. KV has played a lot of matches in both tournaments and that maybe the best chance for LL tomorrow. Best of luck to him.

There has been replays shown after the tournament. I agree no livestream is very inconsiderate of Bwf. This tournament has more fan support than some that do provide live streaming. In fact junior tournments in Europe do have live telecast. These are the players of the future. Many fans would be very interested to see how good these young players are.

Any link to the replays, please. Every year China unveils some good junior talents, but whether they make it to the top is another question.

Totally agree with u. Looking forward to see them in future tournaments. But dissappointing not see two 18 years old mens doubles players who won international challenge tournaments in australia & new zealand

In the final day of the AJC Thailand and Indonesia managed to win the MD, XD and MS. Well done. Liu Liang didnt create an upset eventhiugh KV has been playing non stop. Certainly the man of the Championships is Kunlavit Vitidsarn. He was the person who led Thailand to the team championships. And won all his singles matches . He is certainly a star of thr future. Congratulations is due to him and his teamates.
China still has a lot to do to remain the top badminton nation in future.

I think China is still doing well. They are continuously producing good players. Regaining that old 2010-2014 form in all 5 categories is the most difficult thing, other countries are also improving. They have won WD, WS which was all China final. If people will get disappointed thinking why China is not replicating the form of 2010-14, then there won't be any happiness ever because attaining that form is one of the toughest things to do. I still think, China is doing well and good and it's a matter of time when they'll peak again because of their robust grassroots development and now more exposure is given to youngsters.

Kunlavit doesnt need anymore world junior championship medals. He should show his talent now at the world stage. Like An See Young and Lakshya Sen. It would be interesting to see him against the more senior Chinese juniors li shifeng and the rest.
Yes the CBA has a good policy of international exposure. I just hope the talented juniors., like Dong Tian Yao
Will be given specialist coaches, ie one to one coaching from ex champions like Zhao Jian Hua. To impart the special skills and mental strength needed to win tournaments.

Zhao Jianhua is the deputy head of CBA, involve in policy-making, not training and coaching, unlike the specially appointed technical specialists like Fu Haifeng or Sun Jun who have been contracted and tasked to help train the national team members.

Oh, yes, I think Li Shifeng, if he's still eligible to play the junior circuit, would put up a strong challenge to Kunlavut.

Very poor performances from both di zijian & wang chang in the mens doubles final of asian junior championship. I think these two were over confident because there were unbeatable in the junior circuit for a reasonable time. Losing is good for them to focus more in the training & to do their best at world junior championship later in this year.

In the Thailand Open the China MS won their 1st round matches. Surprisingly Zhou Zeqi managed to overcome the experienced Ajay Jayaram. Sun Feixiang played very well to beat the 3rd seeded Thomas Rouxal. Finally Ren Pengbo overcame Tanongsark Saensomboonsuk ranked 48 against RP's 98. In the 2nd round ZZQ has a tough opponent in Sourabh Verma, SFX plays against Sony Dwi Kuncoro and RP against June Wei Cheam. Interesting to see whether RP can overcome JWC. Their H to H is one each.RP seems to have recovered from his injury and was playing very well against TS. But JWC has improved a lot recently. Great game to watch.

Poor Kunlavut Vitidsarn lost to Sony Dwi Kuncoro in the first round qualification.. He must have finally felt spent after his marathon at the Asian Juniors.

If I'm not wrong this is the second time or more that Sun Feixiang couldn't survive the qualification rounds playing two matches a day. If he has difficulty negotiating the qualies, then it would stymie his progress.

In the match with Sony, both of them looked tired but in G2 SFX had chances to force the decider coming from behind to reach two gamepoints but chose to play safe shots and allowed Sony to take four points on the trot, the last two with well-placed cross-court smashes, to close it out.

I feel that Team China is at her weakest for the upcoming (Basel) World Championships in recent years - in MS , only Shi Yuqi stands out but he's , unfortunately, nursing an injury and likely to absent himself this edition; in WS, only Chen Yufei can challenge the top contenders; in MD, Liu/Li is among the favourites but their H2H record against The Minions is worrisome; in WD, CHN's once dominant discipline is now no longer the case and facing multiple threats, esp from the clear favourite JPN contingent occupying the top 3 world ranking, and the lately resurgent KOR squad; only in XD is CHN near certain of mounting the winner's podium with her two most formidable pairs.

Overall, a worrisome prospect and I'm afraid to make any predictions on the number of golds Team CHN can capture.

One gold through their specialization, mixed doubles. Don't see high probability prospect in other categories.
Talking about Shi YQ, I read somewhere he underwent surgery and still taking care recovery process which means slim chance to see him participating the forthcoming World Champs.

China has to work on the juniors who are now 15 - 17 years to produce the next batch of talented MS and WS . Dong Tian Yao and Tan Ning are good to start with. The fact that they have been identified now means that the coaches are working on the youngsters. Congratulations for being brave enough to put them up in the tournaments. Similarly for WD and MD they should get very strong smashers and pair them up.
The coaches for the MS are actually quite good in that they give the players strict training in stroke play, mental strength and strong defence; what we call the China style. For example what they have achieved with Zhou Zeqi, Huang Yuxiang and Zhao Jun Peng is no mean achievement. These three were quite mediocre in the beginning but they are changed MS players now. But I am afraid they can't achieve much better. The Taiwanese seem to produce very good MS and for MD the Malaysians produce many new pairs. I feel the new team in charge of coaching are making headwind and look forward to more interesting players coming" on stage" soon.

Right, you said it out for me, one gold only, the worst case scenario or mostly likely outcome.

Unfortunately, Shi Yuqi whom I think poses the main threat to Momota is as good as not playing the Basel WC as he had undergone surgery for the discovered ligament tear around the ankle when he underwent further examination back home at the Beijing 3rd Hospital.

Du Yue doing double duty in WD and XD, so too her partner He Jiting - no wonder Zhang Jun disallows any CHN players to do so for the Olympics as it's really demanding to do well in two disciplines. But they are both qualified to play the two disciplines for the upcoming Basel WC, perhaps that's why an exception is made this time or, rather, of late.

Zhang Nan, otoh, plays only MD with Ou Xuanyi. Just as well if he's not to stretch himself too thin trying his level best to qualify in MD for the Tokyo 2020 OG with a new partner.

We're not too surprised if they would ended with 1 gold in World Championships as China had experienced same situation twice, back to 1993 & 1995 edition since their inaugural participation in 1983.

Wow , a good comeback Bai Yu Peng in the 1st round of the Hydrebad Open against Chan Yin Chak, seeded 6. He won the first set but lost the second easily. In the final set he was behind by at least 4 points and I was quite sure he was going to lose. But he showed great tenacity to win 25-23. lets hope it was 1st round nerves and he will do better in the next round. His last outing was in April so a loss today would be bad for his " CV ". He will play Kiren George quite a good junior later.
