Would the 99 be too heavy to use in doubles?

no, if 4u and bp below 320, not all astrox 99 BP below 320, the new astrox 99 is more user friendly than the old one

I don't know but the one from the badminton pro shop post atleast had some originality in it. Wait where did that post go.
And he chose green because it is his lucky color this year.

the old one (bp 330) better for smash and clear lob , and have more power than the new one but weak for defend and make stamina quickly exhausted

Ilike the new one (BP 320), the new one feel almost like astrox 88D, good in speed, power and defend

until now I am still confused why it can be different feeol astrox 99, from yonex there is no info

Woah congrats buddy. If possible do measure the dry BP and head weight when you receive yours. That way it would be helpful if it confirms my thoughts(if it really is based on the old AX99)

I know u mentioned them to be almost the same (new AX 99 vs AX 88D). But what difference do u feel?

FYI.. I'm looking for something that smash harder than AX88D but improve (or at least retain) it's defensive and speed of maneuverability. Was hoping the new AX99 might provide that.

I feel AX 99 (4U) have more power than AX 88D (4U) but less speed.
    Defend : AX 88D > AX 99
    Speed : AX 88D > AX 99
    Power : AX 99 > 88D
    Smash : AX 99 > 88D
    Solid : AX 99 > 88D
    (all weight 4U)
88D 4U fells little bit vibration, 88D (3U) and AX 99 does not feel the vibration
if u looking for smash harder than 88D , u can try AX 99 (4U), ax 99 has amazing power, choose BP around 320 below

I think this should be nipped in the bud directly. You cannot have one and hope to have the other. Especially with head heavy rackets with boxy frames. The more power you get will always come with either A. Stiffer shaft or B. More head weight. The resultant trade off will be a racket that is more demanding to use and/or harder to defend with.

Best advice that can be given on smash improvement is not to spend 200 dollars on a racket but go for lessons or work on the specific muscle groups involved in smashing at the gym. Hell even drilling your smash technique can give you some improvement (provided the technique isn't flawed to begin with).

    Thanks for the comparison.

Based on the general consensus (which match your impression)..I'd probably stick to my 3U 88D for now..

In the past.. I would have totally agreed with your statement. But moving to AX 88D and whatever magic NAMD provided change my mind on this concept.

As someone who had been trying different rackets, having more power (stiffer shaft/heavier head etc) will almost always sacrifice other aspect of a racket (speed, maneuverability, defence Etc).

For example, moving from 3U Voltric 80 to 3U Voltric Lin Dan Force provided same power but brought improvement in speed, maneuverability and defense (albeit slightly) imo.

Moving from 3U Voltric Lin Dan Force to 3U AX 88D had actually provided very noticeable improvement in speed/maneuverability/defense with only mininal sacrifice in the power department imo.

I was hoping for a repeat of whatever magic NAMD had brought for the power department as well.. .

I get what you're saying. Material science plays a big factor especially with NAMD right now but I still stand by my statement. It isn't the true answer. It only brings improvements. Think of it this way.

What if NAMD becomes the standard norm in all rackets. Then you're back to square one regardless where cleaner technique and hitting strength play the biggest parts in getting power.
