    That didn't make sense haha
It won't be an upset, AY is #1 now TTY is #2.

ranking is just a number. TTY will be fav no matter against which ever player, when fav loses , its consider an upset right.

When lcw was world no1 for so long , and when he lost to Lin Dan, does it count as an upset ?

FTS! Can't believe that I made stupid typo again. I mean TTY in the latter part. Yeah, you're right. Between TTY and AY, there will be no upset regardless of the winner.

I don't think that can be used as a basis for an upset. Between the two top players (provided that their level difference is not too far), when facing against each other, there will be no upset regardless of the winner.

I would say that based on last year results, Daren Liew, unseeded, progress to the semi finals was probably the only real upset we get

Ok, now YJM wins. What's next?

I am seriously running short in cash and i probably should make a bet of my entire savings. So give me some advice…

I still stand by my 5% prediction had AY been healthy. After seeing kurako's post reporting AY's back injury, I didn't think it would be that bad.

My new wild prediction is that YJM will beat RI/GMT in the QF match, but this is pretty baseless since I haven't been watching RI's games this year, though I know from her results that she's not in good form; I also have never watched GMT's games.

Shouldn't count out her R3 opponent either, though I have unfortunately never heard of her before.

She was born in Singapore, but her parents are from Malaysia. Just check from wiki.

To be fair, we never know when her parents move to Singapore. I think YJM spends her entire life in Singapore.

similarly, Loh Kean Yew's parents are malaysians.. and so was Loh Kean Yew ...only difference with Yeo Jia Ming

to be fair AY came in recovering from a persistent back injury, and watching from last nites play, she looked like she is still suffering from it.. not her usual game. not to take anything away from YJM though. She will probably win again tonite

YJM doesn't have the ability to beat any top players. Her ability is still very far compared to top players. One more is endurance problem, it will definitely be her main problem that will follow her during her career.

Skills can be trained, endurance is not.

    so, let's see tonight?

o_O ok genetics can help give a certain foundation but more than genetics, endurance can be improved through training. Vo2 max limit and lactate threshold can both be increased which mean better endurance. It's a long hard work in the gym and on court but it can be improved through training.

Skills' foundation is talent but we're talking at a beginner to intermediate level here or when young players start the sport. Quickly it's training again (like you mentioned) that will help improve a player's skill. TTY is called the queen of deceptions. Did you see her practice or warm up with her coach? it's like a festival of deceptive shots from both of them. She trains for it. Speaking of TTY she used to have a rather poor form on court a few years ago. She is much better now, proof endurance can be improved.

See players like Intanon, He Bing Jiao, Gregoria Mariska, Aya Ohori. Did not they train? I think yes, but it's already their limit. I think there is a reason why TTY's playstyle is so deceptive, because of saving energy. Players will choose play's style depend on their capabilities.

It's just my oppinion, maybe I'm totally wrong, so let's see after few years later, we will know the answer :D
