He probably knew the problem because the options there was he waited for Kido to return with Sigit as the coach or him to return to coach Herry on his own without Kido. Coach Herry is a great man and coach. He accepted everyone (who kind of had defied him before) back as long as they were willing to work with him.
Coach Herry praised Hendra a lot for his dedication and hard work. So much that they let Ahsan/Hendra be a part of National team even though they had gone independent.

Not to mention that he asked Coach Herry whether he can become the champion again (or something like that). He certainly never views himself as important. After reading some post about LYD's treatment to his partners and how he views himself, I am very grateful that INA has a great man such as Hendra. If Hendra was LYD, who knows what will happen now.

Double is where you work with your partners as one. No matter how good you are, you can't win it on your own.

That's why I admire ZN so much because he never tries to stand out and always takes the role as the support to his partner and to cover his partner as much as he could, even though that means they wouldn't win all the time and he would always be underrated.

yeah, on that matters i truly blamed kido.At First he and his bro/sis (bona and bernadeth) left PBSI because they dont satisfied with contract offering from PBSI (still collective back then), thus he drags hendra into AWOL conditions because they achieved so many achievements together in their early days, then he had problem to with coach herry. So basically hendra wasting nearly 2 years (2011-2012) of his productive years
The second was the bitter disappointment about Rio's 2016 that hendra was very depressed (according his wife) so he choose to be a pro to relieved himself from Rio's (2016-2017). That 's nearly 4 years.I'm wonder if he plays in WC 2017-2018, could he snatch another WC titles?

Getting the best partner is really hard.

Say if he never quit national team and kept partnering Ahsan, he might have snatched another one. But with Ahsan/Hendra's form last year, I don't think they could make it.

Instead of Chasing another Olympic title, i think this time he will take it easy knowing that anything can happen and just enjoy every moment of badminton. A medal is already great enough..Just like in WC, they didnt target be Champion.

Like i said earlier last week, AhsanHendra win WC, Minions win OG.. someone still replied me that they would rather minions win WC and AhsanHendra won OG.

nah...i'm 100% agree with you.if minion wins gold and ahsan/hendra get any medals in Tokyo next years, both of them can gracefully ended their career knowing their reputation as legends are undisputed

The bonus from Menpora isnt that much..

I can assure you at their age (as well as Gideon) , they put importance on money more than titles. When they reach the Final of IO&JO, its already maximum. Even that, gained them more than WC gold.

If they don't win another tournament and then OG, I wouldn't consider them legends myself. One major gold alone isn't enough for that coupled with only 4 years of significant activity, even considering their dominance in 2 of those. There isn't any hard criteria and others will have different opinions on it), but with so many other pairs achieving so much more in major tournaments, I personally wouldn't consider them legends without at least 2 major medals (not counting AG in that, to be clear), and one would for sure have to be gold. Legend is a big word. You can only name so many players/pairs legends before the term loses its meaning...

    Clarification: 'they' being the minions.
Ahsan/Setiawan are gonna be legends with an OG gold, many will consider HS the GOAT at that stage.

    Hendra is so humble :)

also it's interesting when being asked about the saddest moment in his career he said it was when he and ahsan lost the AE SF 2013 against liu/qiu, I thought he gonna mention rio 2016.

Yeah he did mention 2012 and 2016 olympics in that interview, in the video I posted above though he said that the saddest moment in his career was when he and ahsan lost to liu/qiu in AE 2013, weird :D
