Looking at how the score panned out, Marin was leading in both sets at some points before losing the deuces.

Marin just needs to be fit for Olympic. No matter what happens, she will represent Spain. She will play the top gun, depends on who she drew against but its just 1 seeded opponents.

Well Now Im feeling glad Carol's match wasnt on TV court cause I dont want a record of such match on the youtube.

Anyways...Carol played well and its understandable that shes coming from a long injury rest so Im glad her score tells that she has now had a great warm up match and she is prepared for China open.

I dont think it really matters for her to win any small tittle anyways..I mean once you have an OG and WC two biggest tittles your career is already brightest..So Nothing needed just prepare well and even if she feels not fully fit at china open I say she should go back and rest and then make a smashing come back at the OG like the Queen of Major that she and her friend are.

Eagerly Waiting to see you at China Open Carol.

It's a shame that even some Int'l series/challenge tournaments can offer livestreams for all four courts from the qualifying rounds onwards or from the opening round of the main draw, yet many S100/300 events are not doing it.

wt 100 and above have broadcast rights clauses written into their tournament contracts between bwf & the host organizer. the lower grades do not, which means the host/organizer is free broadcast whatever they want & however they want.

sometimes a live stream will be run by a betting site.

I believe Watanabe will avenge his TPE Open semifinal defeat.

Unfortunately that the Spaniard sensation lost narrowly to the young aggressive Thai Supanida Katethong despite managing good lead in opening game, 15-9 then 18-14 in the second, something is still missing from Marin judging by the scoreline. It's not easy to bring back her fine touch, Marin needs adaptation post long time absence, her next assignment is China Open where she will meet familiar rival Nozomi Okuhara in opening round.

Side issue of flags and member associations has run its course.

Let’s get back to being mainly directly about tournament discussion.

    Thanks

2015 WJC silver medalist Siril Verma stuns top-seed Liew Daren in three games where the Malaysian falters in deciding game to 19 years old inexperienced teenager. Verma will take on China new promoted talent, recent Belarus Int.Series winner Lei Lan Xi.

Japan next generation Koki Watanabe as expected takes revenge, Heo Kwang Hee forcing deuce as the Japanese couldn't maintain the momentum when leading 19-16 in second game. Another former WJC awaits him in last sixteen round this evening, Sun Fei Xiang, tough challenge for Watanabe based on head to head stats, never won in five previous meetings started from their junior years. However, Watanabe has more encouraging result in 2019 so far rather than his opponent who's frequently crashed out at early round.

What did verma had in breakfast lolz...Its a great news for Indian camp but the road to Gold is not easy and if Siril even manages to get to the finals it will be a great achievement.

lets see what these junior World Championships medalists have in store for seniors...best of luck to Watanabe,Li and Siril.

You have forgotten Naraoka Kodai, ... silver medallist last year, bronze medallist in 2017, and he is still a high school student. :)

Sourabh through to quarters beating Kodai Naroka in straight games.
I have to tell, whenever Kodai loses a point, the way he returns the shuttle Is not at all good. Hope he learn it in the future.

    Congrats Sourabh.

He will learn only if he keeps failing like this...Cause then he might learn paitence cause frustration have drowned many good players who couldnt ever become Champions due to their own frustration.

He was pitted against the No 2 seed, and the score line was close. ... But I felt that Naraoka's body language when losing a point was a little too negative.

Kodai Naraoka leads most times in opening and second game but couldn't convert it, that's the experience playing a vital role. Looking forward to this teenager alongside with Koki Watanabe who look promising to be Japan next MS to watch out. Sourabh Verma will up against another Japanese hurdle Yu Igarashi to seek quarterfinal spot. Meanwhile home favourite Nguyen Tien Minh will be challenged by China young hopeful, 2018 YOG gold medalist Li Shi Feng.

    MS - R/16

She still needs to qualify on ranking though, there's lots of other Europeans to represent Europe and there's no representation quota for single nations
