Meanwhile, public perception never changed, it's the same argument isn't it. I mean look at the last 10 responses here, it's the same for as long as I have been a member here..... low commitment from all parties, agenda driven officials that's other than national badminton, bad roots policies, corruption (gasp)...etc. waning public interest? Maybe....but Badminton academies are still full. It's still not easy book courts for social badminton.....but Malaysian players are still struggling to realize their potential..since the 70s. The best we can sum it up is; we are a Badminton loving country, with good players sometimes. We have never been a Badminton powerhouse country.

Recently there were complaints about the high fees that BAM charges to sanction junior tournaments. Doesn’t it seem self destructing when your organisation takes about identifying new talent and yet strangle the grassroots by charging higher fees for events that identify and encourage new talent?

how high is high?any numbers to give us an idea. I am pretty sure costs to run tournaments are high, are there any other sources of revenues from these tournaments other than fees? sponsors?

Good question and I don’t know the figure.

I saw this point brought up browsing through some Msian clubs FB pages. In it the person had said they had brought up the point with BAM in a meeting between BAM and clubs resulting in a round of applause from the floor. That would indicate BAM does charge a fairly significant fee to endorse a tournament.

Since I don’t run tournaments in Malaysia, I can’t answer your question on revenue. Maybe a local Malaysian would be better placed to give the answer.

What can Kenny gig, the new general secretary do to reverse the decline in Malaysian badminton? Will be very hard if the state BA still have old mindset and everyone thinking of their own interests rather than national interest. So far, Norza is putting blames on the coaches and players but not himself.

Goh Liu Ying is the best example of injuries and surgeries in Malaysia and then still coming back.

Probably most consistent top ten world ranking which is better than any Malaysian apart from one other person in recent years.

Can you imagine LCW pairing up with GLY? That would be awesome!

There was one local MAS tournament in 2015?where LCW partnered with Vivian Hoo and won easily against GLY /CPS in the final.
