Such is the case for individual events as well.. Not all. Junior world champions will be elite senior players.
Luckily not a lot of indonesian fans are following this forum, it's really sensitive topic, especially regarding ahsan's, lot of indonesians are actually praising ahsan for the fact that he didn't want to shake hand with opposite sex.
Not for me. I like to watch team event rather than individual. I like it when the average underdog team won. That feeling when Korea beat China in Uber cup after China dominance in WS and WD. When Korea won the sudirman cup 2 years ago. Also when Indonesia won Thomas Cup 3 times during 1998-2002. When the average players become the hero
Shows you how long of a way they have to go still....are all INA players with long pants afflicted or are some wearing them for the compression? I hadn't noticed any of them refusing hand shakes so far. Medieval vibes.
How do Indonesian's greet the opposite sex if they don't want to touch them. There must be some form of polite greeting? Actually, is it cultural (just Indonesia) or religious greeting (which would mean all muslims)?
Not to mention that some of them are protecting their religion fanatically, to the point that "religious demonstration" is allowed. Speaking of INA muslim players, I have absolutely zero problem whether they want to handshake the opposite sex or not. It's religious thing. There was a scene where Ahsan didn't shake hands to a female during this year's Sudirman Cup podium. Instead, he placed both his hands together while bowing down (Thailand's way). See this link around 1:39:20
Credit to Liu Liang who could manage his nerve well at the brink of defeat but it's not enough for China to defend their title here. A delayed victory for INA junior team to lift first ever Suhandinata Cup since inaugural edition in 2000, defeating thirteen-time winner and title holder China, 3-1. An epic final as Bobby Setibudi blew away golden chance failed to convert championships point, luckily WD pair Kusuma/Syaikah could brought back their confidence and stay composed after losing opening game 16-21 to steal crucial second game, 25-23 then their opponent Lin YJ/Tan N faltered, mentally crumbled in deciding game, 21-13. Overall, top-seed and tournament favorite INA junior squad has better ingredients than China this time, a very deserved champion.
Yup, top two seeds crashed out with various reasons. In all INA finals, wanna see Ramadhanti/Sugiarto to clinch WD crown this evening, these youngsters are really impressive how they overcome Li WM/Zheng Y and Matsuyama/Shida with fast interception, accurate attacking smash and nice placement. China has most number of representatives in final round, almost all categories except WD.
People in north side of India are also very discriminative and stereotypical mindset mostly in rural areas regarding all this. Respecting cultures and traditions is fine until it doesn't harm others' feelings or if they feel lack of respect. I think all of us talked about it too much. I'll stop it here
not all muslims (n definitely not just indonesia).....just those that take this particular religion very seriously that do this (i.e. female can only treated.by female doctors...or female can't touch opposite sex that's not her mate) i'm willing to bet there r still many indonesian muslims that don't abide these frankly for me stupid rules (n not just the 2 examples above ....there r many more) if these dumb rules r going to infiltrate sport...then i've got nothin to say except good luck to idiot humanity
If you mean by getting excited as having this urge to shoot Ou then yes I am. Not to mention the Indonesian commentator kept mistaking ZN for Ou.. making things so much worse.
I guess Jonatan Christie wear long pants for compression, he is rumored to be a christian and not muslim.
Ou/Zhang did it, narrowly. The JPN pair was much prepared this time. Played Ou a lot and almost succeeded. A good thing that ZN has nerve of steel.
Wow...what a comeback! Too bad the prize money is so paltry...ZN must be used to winning 10x more for doing that much work.
