I'd say a bit of both. They've stagnated since their relatively good run in 2018. I've always said that Yuta needs to smash harder cos his drops aren't gonna win them the game all the time; only Tang and Tse still falling for it. People know his patterns by now. At the end of the day a decisive smash gets the job done. Look at praveen, dechapol and to some extent, seo seung jae.

Ginting did well to beat Lee Zi Jia, not an easy opponent to deal with. Indeed, Kosetskaya once again showed she is an improved player by overcoming Mia Blichfeldt. Huang Yuxiang disposing of Khosit Phetpradab is a little bit of a surprise for me though he's known to sometimes upset the apple cart.
