Lim Chong King is probably the most up to date MS player beside the seniors. He's got smooth footwork and nice attacking game, just not much stroke game and touch. Definitely needs to be given attention.

from that indonesian open meet with Anders, its quite clear he definitely have improved in leaps and bounds... except stamina!!! i dont think that win over Chen Long is a fluke. His stamina failed him from 14-11 onwards. I can see the sense of surprise on the Danish player.. and he realized what was happening. So he increased his intensity

That's right on the point. LZJ really lack that sudden change of pace and intensity. His technical skills is the best in MAS national squad, but his fitness is not that strong compared to players who played regularly in World Tour. For him to be better, he needs more experience in Super 500-1000 events.

Maybe since BAM is focusing on him on MS right now, but with the current money-saving mode, I am not sure,
He definitely needs more experience in tight matches.

At least he admit and know he made a lot of silly mistake, potential is there.. by hard-work and experience he might triumph soon

either LZJ has suddenly increased his speed and accuracy or VA is still sluggish from his recent hiatus.. but good game nevertheless in that Korean Open game. Anybody noticed that?

I think LZJ needs to add the soft dimension to the game to provide variation. His game is quite predictable without it, and his smashes no doubt quite effective but they expand a lot of energy. He needs to mix it with drops which would allows him to conserve energy as well as preventing the opponent from poaching and guessing. I noticed the recent match at Danish Open yesterday, Chen Long guessed a few times right, if LZJ had made a few drops, Chen Long would not be waiting way far back providing him with longer response time because he was expecting long smashes.

Excellent points. Part of being 20 and being the new kid in the block. Some get there faster, some a little later. We just hope he is patient and be able to absorb all the losses and be stronger for it

Hopefully, early and not later. Soo Teck Zhi was a great prospect, and he is still young but dropped from BAM, having the height, power smash and won the asian junior but didn't go anywhere because he didn't establish the soft game. I am just wondering couldn't the coaches just focus more on these weak areas? See Carolina Marin, during her injury time off, she seems to have vastly improved on her backhand, now she has this deadly soft cross court drop. She is now almost a complete player perhaps only lacking patience in long rallies :)

Also after watching the KentoM vs ChenL Denmark open last night, he needs the ability to read the overall strategy of the game as it unravels in rhythm and tempo. Meaning, intelligence and patience. The ability to anticipate and work your opponent into making mistakes. The typical Malaysian method of rally and attack rally and attack are over ( look at our women's doubles to see this outdated play in it's purest form). It's that soft dimension like someone said here and more. Of course all this won't work without consistent accuracy, discipline and lots of stamina

No wonder he appeared out of sorts, completely not in the game. I had expected it to be well-fought as I believed he has the ability to push Momota quite a bit.

Congrats to Lee Zii Jia for winning the gold medal of men’s single event in Sea Games 2019, by beating SGP (ex-Malaysian) Loh Kean Yew in straight games...
