As you've mentioned Ashmita, I can't resist myself but say BAI has lost a very good chance to tap the potential of this youngstar. I saw her for the first time during last year Tata IC final and my first impression was woww, she's good skills wise, not in stamina but had great wrist movement. At that time, I was not even thinking of her reaching top 50 but my immediate thought was she could be the next one very minutely "close" to PVS, SN. She had won Tata India IC last year and won Dubai IC too. It was meant to be her minor "breakthrough" to the senior circuit. But reality was different. Since that win, her results are mentioned below:

    1) Asia Mixed Team Championship (20th March) lost to YJM in three games, won against TPE player Liang Ting Yu in three tight games.

    2) Finnish Open IC (4th April) lost to Porntip of Thailand in two straight games in QF.

    3) Dutch International Series (11th April) lost to Qi Xuefei in three games in first round.

    4) White Nights IC (10th July) lost to Evgeniya Kosetskaya in two straight games in SF.

    5) Hyderabad Open Super 100 (6th August) lost to Malaysian Lee Ying Ying in three games in first round.

    6) Vietnam Open Super 100 (10th September) lost to Wei Yaxin in two straight games in first round of Qualifiers.

    7) Dubai IC (16th October) lost to Rituparna Das in two straight games in R16.

Her year win loss is 10-7. Imagine she's just played 17 matches in international circuit full year. This is not at all healthy . So much less exposure. Plus she's in Assam and not training in either of two biggest academies PGBA and PPBA. She's 20 and these are the formative years and she's not been taken care of. I don't know whether she'll be able to play to her maximum potential or not. Future will tell.

Iirc she took a game from PV last year. I loved her play style, she is kind of mini TTY to watch.

If BAI is good in recognising promising players situation would be different.

Ashwini must have worked really hard to ensure that they lose the game from 12-6 lead.

I know the pain if my partner makes foolish errors but I can't yell at him because he is my senior.

Satwik played excellently well but he has to save energy for MD as well. But when you are having such a huge lead, aswini made so many errors and helped losing the game. Such an irresponsible senior. What a 18 year old can do?.
    He cannot advice her.

Imagine the frustration of giving a lot of power/energy to your smash and then
    1, Your opponent defended it.
2, Your partner killed that next shot to net.
    and this happens consistently.

This means your energy and point both are lost. You got mind-fu*ked buy logic-fu*kingly foolish play of your partner.

I feel sad for Ashwini. She was the one who was better one in her partnerhsip with Jwala. After that Sikki came. Sikki was always hopeless but I'm afraid Ponappa too went off the boil and didn't do justice to her potential. She too has been errorprone and hasn't shown the urge to become better. Sad to see the state of WD and XD here. And terrifying news is they are the best ones we've got. SikkiPonappa can't even win their country's own Super 100 title. Heck they even lost the Maldives IC this year if I'm not wrong. But no problem it #gives you wings #redbull India.

Okay BSP did well to dig deep but he is still lacking in a lot of skills. He cannot move fast, increase pace when needed. He played angled shots but his game is not much creative. He made a lot of errors for this level and that deep forehand corner is a gift for opponents.

Atleast one improvement in his game is his stamina . That too very little improvement than before. He was able to withstand 82 mins of today's MS. ]
He had chances in the first game but he blown it. So, i would say, he should have finished it in 2 but Antonsen did it in 3.
Stamina plays a huge part in today's MS

He improved but not at all enough. I didn't see him hit steep half smashes and pinpoint drops. But he played some good shots like smash in forehand and then follow it with a smash in backhand directions a few times and that worked really well. But he should play more creative, he should up the pace when needed just like AA did. Even coaches are not reminding him to increase pace.

He cannot stand the quality of Momota at all.

But Sai Praneeth is not even top 10 yet. But he did give a fight against World championships silver medallist. And also, At present nobody in the world is able to scramble Momota yet, so we should not blame Sai , who is not even inside top 10 for that.

No no no!!, not blaming at all. He is trying to improve and give his best ,why would anyone blame him for doing so. Here we are just discussing +ve/-ve aspects of todays game and where he should improve.

I was just going through youtube videos and came across a teaser of web series "Chargesheet: Shuttlecock murder" inspired from true events regarding late Syed Modi career and his murder. Then I went through his wiki page. So this is just to remember late Syed Modi who could have done more if not for his unfortunate murder. Here is the teaser link-

    Below is his wiki link-

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syed_Modi

Syed Modi (1962–1988), born as Syed Mehdi Hassan Zaidi, was an Indian badminton singles player. He was eight-time National Badminton champion (1980–87). His most notable achievement at the international badminton circuit came when he won CWG MS gold medal (1982) at the age of 20. Same year, he won Asian Games MS bronze medal.

Modi's career was cut short in his prime when he was shot dead on 28 July 1988 in Lucknow as he came out of the K. D. Singh Babu Stadium after a practice session. The murder sent shockwaves through India, especially after the police filed murder charges against Modi's wife, Ameeta, and her lover (and future husband) Sanjay Singh. Ameeta and Sanjay Singh both are influential politicians in state of Uttar Pradesh now.

In 1976, aged only 14, Syed Modi became junior national Badminton champion. His mother could not stop weeping while hearing the radio. She made her three eldest sons promise there and then, on the oath of her tears, that they would always try their hardest to provide funds for Modi's training, as far as God gave them the ability. The same year, Modi started training under Mr. P.K. Bhandari (Pushp Kumar Bhandari - chief badminton coach, N.I.S, Patiala) which continued till 1982. Thereafter, he trained under Dipu Ghosh, National Coach of Indian team.

In 1980, as soon as he was eligible (aged 18), Modi won the national badminton championship. In the same year, the department of sports (Government of India) recommended his name and Modi was given a paying job as a Welfare Officer in the Indian Railways (NE). He was initially posted in Gorakhpur, nearest to his hometown and family. In 1982, his new coach wanted that he should train in Lucknow which had better facilities, so he was transferred there.

Syed Modi went on to win the national badminton championship every single year between 1980 and 1987 (eight times in a row). In 1981, he received the Arjuna Award from the Government of India. At the 1982 Asian Games, he won the bronze at the men's singles event. The same year (1982), he beat England's Nick Yates, 7-15, 15-5, 15-7 to take home the Men's singles Gold at the 1982 Commonwealth Games.[4] In 1983 and 1984, he won the Australian International. His game started going downhill only in 1987-88, when his marriage came under strain (his wife was having an affair) and Modi lost the national badminton championship for the first time ever in 1988. A few months later, he was murdered.

His marriage and murder case is written in his Wikipedia page. He was touted to be next superstar like Prakash Padukone.

Last year when I searched the history of Syed Modi and his life, I came to know everything. That was very unfortunate to lose a valuable life.
Having said that, why did his wife ,who was also a player , married him in first place and along with his political lover conspired to murder him. Instead she could have divorced and later remarried that ****.
I then searched the net to see that woman (now around 50) with her political husband.
They are roaming around like they have never done anything.

She became an influential politician later. But her husband was active in national politics back then too. And as you know how politics works here, they have probably got clean chit .

Kim Ji Hyun, P.V Sindhu’s former coach has resurfaced in Taiwan, the third foreign coach to resign prior completing the tenure. Indonesian Mulyo Handoyo, the men single coach had resigned in 2017 and joining the Singapore team after leaving India. Malaysian Tan Kim Her also stepped down and becoming Japanese men double coach.

Tan Kim Her stayed in India for 3 years
Mulyo Handoyo stayed in India for 1 year
Kim Ji Hyun stayed in India for 3 months

I am disappointed with Kim Ji Hyun for staying such a short time. I could understand if she had reason to spend time with her husband. But to choose another option without giving India first choice is disappointing.

May be there are better hospitals and facilities in Taiwan which can help her take better care of her husband, I am only guessing here.

Is she going to coach Chinese Taipai national team? That Facebook link is broken.

    Play hard. Train harder.
