Organizing major bwf events in new places may increase the popularity of badminton. Europe plays a major role in popularising sport increasing prize money, advertising etc.i don't think any sport will become popular only due its game value they need other factors.for eg bcci played major role in popularising cricket in India
Yes, thats the way with Endo, not only him but any Japanese MD pair. Look at Hoki/Kobayashi and Kam/Son as well. Hoki/Kobayashi came to WBC final played much much better than AHS/Set but still lost. It's just that finals doesn't work out for Japan some reason or the other they manage to loose something. One can speculate that this is a mental block this block that block, but that again is a speculation, which is all theory. It's a theory which our mind comes to justify itself. That's all.
Yeah, i will prefer adding 2 tournaments to WR so 12. So that players cant always choose which points are used , not saying players want to, but its the system that choose to do so. I d say 12 tournaments will be just nice.
Badminton needs investment, and therefore, it needs bigger prize money. With bigger prize money, the fans and the world will follow.
There is a fine line, a balance. If the money is getting big enough, parents will allow the kids to pursue. At the moment, kids will be overruled (in many countries) as badminton is not "a career".
But where will the money come from? Badminton needs BWF to do better job, really. And needs to think about how games could be more entertaining and attract more viewers. Better judging system, video revision or such would be a good addition.
I also think reducing the number of sectors might help. No one can follow all the sectors, For example, is there even XD in tennis? or even table tennis these days? This guys vs girl sport is weird. Its like pitting 3guys2girls vs 3guys2girl in NBA match.
In most aspects of life (not all), its all about finding the next step. New ways of achieving higher. Never to to be "satisfied", but always pushing the boundaries.
I wonder, if there is no money, how the PBL players got payed so handsomely? I mean it seems like that is played professionally.. India can easily hold 1Mill USD tournament, judging from PBL bid. so i dont understand why not put the money in the tournaments.
you can't convince the parents by showing how much Momota earn, how big is Axelsen's house, what car Kevin is driving, because these are top of the cream players. the various association need to reach out to their people to show that badminton is a viable career, even if they are not Momota, Axelsen or Kevin.
