    Well, so far, Huang Yuxiang has only been capable of playing above himself once in a blue moon; inconsistency still plaguing him.

    At age 26 now, my only hope for him is that he is a late bloomer, a la Wei Nan, Hu Yun, Sho Sasaki, in particular. No definite signs yet though the potential is there, I think.

    Looks like Angus Ng K L has improved under Du Pengyu's tutelage and sparring.

    Well, Huang Yuxiang has done Momota a favour by eliminating a troublesome opponent of the latter's, Anthony Gingting, but he himself may not get past J O Jorgensen. We'll see.

    Two victories in a row for the young Hong Kong player against the higher ranked Taiwanese. Perhaps it's time that him and Du start selling whatever it is they know about beating Tien to other players.

    Ho, Huang Yuxiang just made it, having to come from behind to edge out JOJ by winning G2 and the decider. But, to be honest, I doubt either HYX or JOJ can pose any serious threat to Momota.

    Well, net game and net errors are one of the deciding factors in that match.

    Why aaron/soh body language always bad everytime they face minions, it looks like they're scared or something...they look more confident against ahsan/hendra.

    They look evenly matched against LiLiu but lost many in rubber or tight match..

    But this Malaysia pair is good. no timewasting. Fairplay to them.

    I mean they keep beating fajri too so they must be good, but their body language is just bad when they play minions...looks defeated already when they were trailling by 4-5 points.

    Yeah they beat ChoiSeo with absolute ease too.

    QF is actually HerryIp target for Minions this tournament. Anything over is bonus.

    QUARTERFINAL (03.00pm) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...74F318-A951-4C8F-9451-5DA3F33DF6C3&d=20200110

    • Chou Tien Chen becomes second round victim, the highest ranked tumbled in men's singles category, can't pass familiar rival, the resilient Ng Ka Long who could anticipate most of his more fancied opponent shots well. This HKG player will take on Indonesian protagonist Jonatan Christie for a place in final four, possibly close contest following their head to head stats. Quarterfinal big match will pit the Olympic Champion Chen Long versus former World Champion Viktor Axelsen while strong contender Kento Momota will meet giant killer, promoted player from qualification round Huang Yuxiang who vanquish Jan O Jorgensen in three games. Home favourite Lee Zii Jia continues gallant run, a projecting interesting clash against Shi Yuqi tomorrow.
    • Almost predictable scenario for women's singles last eight, Super 500 debutant Wang Zhiyi denies two-time winner and defending champion Ratchanok Intanon to going further here, the agile and high spirited Chinese teenager - who look alike her senior Chen Yufei - won narrowly in thrilling match, 19-21 / 21-11 / 22-20. The Chinese frustrates Thai high profile lady with long rallies and good defense to counter attack. Saina Nehwal found the exact answer to beat Korean sensation An Se Young, 25-23 / 21-12 and has Carolina Marin next. A most anticipated WS tie to follow, Tai Tzu Ying will set up a clash with world champion Pusarla Sindhu, a rematch of Basel world championship episode.
    • Indonesia enjoys men's doubles glory when number 1, 2 and 3 march into final eight, Minions meet Alfian/Ardianto while the Daddies will be tested by Lee Y/Wang CL. Three unseeded pairs sneaking into quarters, a big setback for China, brings six representatives only twin towers Li JH/Liu YC survived who get tricky tests, Japan Koga/Saito. Last year runner-up, local hopefuls Ong/Teo who facing cruel decision by BAM, axed from national set up will take on Koreans Kim GJ/Lee YD.
    • Women's doubles top two seeds fail to step up, Chen/Jia were eliminated by Japan back ups Matsuyama/Shida while title holders Fukushima/Hirota lost to China second stringers Li WM/Zheng Y, what a coincidence. The title is open wide for either Korea or Japan combination who staying in the fray, Kim/Kong, Lee/Shin, Matsumoto/Takahashi or maybe a big surprise will rise on occasion.
    • Japan mixed doubles combo, Hoki/Nagahara perform beyond expectation to tackle Thai prominent pair Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai in two straight games, 21-17 / 25-23 and will face Rio silver medalists Chan PS/Goh LY. The mighty Chinese still unshakeable so far, Zheng/Huang and their compatriots Zheng/Huang.

    Yes, 19-year-old Wang Zhiyi is getting more impressive step by step by beating Intanon Ratchanok narrowly today but not anywhere as sensational as the two-year younger KOR An Se Young who has so far scalped bigger names than her. Unfortunately, WZY will be facing her WR1 senior Chen Yufei tomorrow, and I don't expect her to clear the hurdle, so we'd have to await her next couple of tournaments to see how she can go.
