Chen/Jia is current world #1, most dominant pair last year and just coming from the best year in their career. I agree that they lost back to back to a much lower opponents is an upset.

Some of the posters here are heavily invested into Japanese badminton scene and they will say that we shouldn't surprise at all. This pair could beat anyone etc2, but it is more about their style that don't suit Chen/Jia. Polii/Rahayu beat them with relative ease, granted that Polii/Rahayu play better nowadays.

Let say it's comparable if Kidambi beat Momota twice in a row. Both are ranked #1 vs #12, everyone will have pikachu shocked face.

LeeWang was leading the whole of that G3, they will feel hard done by being equalised at 19 and lost the match..

    wow from AhsanHendra..

the reason why AhsanHendra can keep winning these 2 points ball match is because they have nothing to lose despite being WR2, they come to all these matches as not favourite imo..

and these days, its getting even more clinical with almost every of their match involving 19-19 and deuces. and to put it, it doesnt matter its only QF matches its not like they will surely win the title.

But the last time they won both the WC and GZ , the finals involving deuce in which they won and helped them tremendously.

Well I think they have no pressure not because they think they are not favorite. I think they just have the presence of mid and calmness in those situations.
And in age comes experience to handle these situations.
Also they won everything in badminton, maybe except ahsan who hasn't won Olympic yet.. So there is no pressure

This year is their first year in the A Team, meaning Malaysia and Indonesia are the first "big" tournaments (Japan Open excluded) of their careers. Despite this, a few select h2hs:
    vs
    Kititharakul/Prajongjai: 1-1
    Tanaka/Yonemoto: 1-1
    Chang/Kim: 2-0
Du/Li: 1-2 (all three game matches)
    Fukushima/Hirota: 1-0
    Takahashi/Matsutomo: 1:0
    Lee/Shin: 1:1
Chen/Jia: 2-1 (the loss is from 2015 WJC)
    Li/Zheng: 1-1

As you can see, despite not being able to regularly play against the world elite so far, they've done remarkably well.
If they play like today, they will continue to make even bang average pairs like Polii/Rahaju (or even worse ones) look like world beaters. If they can cut down on their endless stream of unforced errors, however, they will also continue to beat the world's best pairs.

Whereas the quality of your comments is not average at all. It is something entirely different! Remarkable consistency as well. ;)

Yeah dont know why, it was him who also made service error at 19-19

though today Gideon didnt play well in G2, its easy to target him and make him miserable.
