Don't take it too badly; he is still a high school student. I am really interested to see how well he can perform against Tsuneyama.

Hi fellow forummers, I'm currently in China for the next few weeks. Where can I watch live matches for tournaments as not all VPNs work in mainland. In fact, the one that I know works with certainty can't be downloaded on my android cos the app store is blocked. FML

From here zhuafan.live http://www.zhuafan.live/channeltypes/Badminton - works well in Firefox with Adobe Flash enabled. Rub in full screen to avoid the popups.

    • Three Indian men's singles players tumble simultaneously in opening round, the closest one is Prannoy who fell short 17-21 / 22-20 / 19-21, Liew Daren suffered litlle bit injury then asked medical treatment in 19-18, it's too bad Prannoy couldn't capitalise this situation instead of making mistake at crucial stages, the Malaysian will take on highest seeded player next, Shi Yuqi today.
    • First round exit in three consecutive weeks for Lin Dan, a common news nowadays in badminton tournament by the Chinese iconic star who still insisting to pursue 5th OG ticket, looks like a mission impossible considering his sustainable terrible form.
    • Too early to meet for Japan #2 and #3 in this tournament, Kanta Tsuneyama facing Kenta Nishimoto, a projected close contest as both players have similar style of play.
    • In the absence of Chen Yufei and He Bingjiao, China women's singles can't do too much here, almost all sent packing early including their newest star Wang Zhiyi who scored sterling performance in Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta but found tough chance against Aya Ohori. Sung Ji Hyun and Saina Nehwal end brief journey in Bangkok, lost to Busanan Ongbamrungpan and the in-form Dane Line Kjaersfeldt respectively.

Do you really think they have a similar style of play?

Men's singles coach, Nakanishi Yosuke, compared them as follows at the beginning of this year:

Tsuneyama → Small of build compared to foreign players, and loses out in terms of power and speed. However, his stroke-work equals that of Momota. This year we are going to work on building up his physicality.

Nishimoto → Has the physical power to compete against the top eight, but encounters problems taking points in win-lose situations, or in the last leg of a match. There are still times when he self-destructs, and he needs to stabilise his emotions.

    -------

We may well be in for a battle of deftness vs power/tenacity. Whatever the case, it is an important match for both of them as far as the run-up to the Olympics is concerned .... Who is going to accompany Momota? As the race heats up, will there even be a second player?

HKH vs LZJ might be tricky match, as HKH once defeat the legend LCW long time ago...

thats the best thing Minions do, letting them win twice or thrice :) make them feel good about themselves.. but even if you beat Minions 5x and end up with no title, its pointless and downer will come soon

thought i would say cutting them now isnt an option, they are younger and still have more potential than Ou/Zhang or Huang/Liu..simply put, there are way too many pairs and they should concentrate on just 1 or 2 pairs instead of sending so many in the tours. This is MD, even in GPG its super competitive. even WR5-30 is equal. thats why so many seeds got knocked out

At least for me, it's quite similar at the glimpse (not very detailed/specifically), typical rally players, very resilient with solid defense.
So far, Tsuneyama has better WR in Tokyo Race 2020 but don't know if he would keep the consistency till the deadline.
