All this talk of him not going to Tokyo. LD is not done yet!

what i meant was all of the above are in his contract in addition to playing. given the length of his contract there may come a time when he'll be ranked too low to qualify for high profile tournaments. he'll still be required to do all the public relations stuff at those tournaments anyway.

I don't know if he is contractually obligated to continue playing. While we don't know the actual terms, playing until 2024 seems extremely unreasonable.

Yeah, agree, I'm sure Yonex knew full well what they are paying him for. I saw the word 'kid' and immediately was reminded of his expressed desire to carry on until his kid is old enough to see him play, sort of misread or missed most of what you've written in your post. My apologies.

6th seed LD has a relatively nice draw in Spain. Opening round against young Frenchman Toma Junior Popov followed the the winner between a qualifier and another Frenchman, Thomas Rouxel.

Almost all Chinese players have been withdrawn from the Spain Masters.

LD again SYQ in the first round of the German Open.

It could go both ways, if one of them goes deep into the draw, the other would be denied a lot of points.

In the scenario that LD beats SYQ and wins the title, SYQ will have a lot to worry about.

Let's hope he can go the way of the last Olympic year and win straight titles in Germany and England.

    That's hoping for a lot, I know.

What does Tokyo Olympics being postponed to the summer of 2021 mean for Lin Dan?

Another Qualification cycle may begin when the tour resumes.

It's time for him to announce retirement ;)
As Datuk Lee said nothing more to prove, he had won every prestigious title in badminton, he's a legend.

He's still rolling in those sweet shiny sponsorship money though. Anyone remembers when his contract with Yonex ends?

Another chance to win his third Olympic gold, perhaps.

If I'm not wrong, he signed the 10-year contract in 2015, so it should run through 2025.

The best thing would be an extended/refreshed qualifying period. One year for LD to get back on track.

I will believe in him, until the end of the world.
