As the title suggests, I'd like to find out what would be the best way to clean the outsoles? My asics have this black colour (see images) on the sole and they are very slippery, to the point of it being scary to run too quickly. Any suggestions on how to clean them? Normaly i always keep small cloth (not towel that i use but different yet smaller size) in my bag. After my last games, i will clean my shoes, the upper 1st & then the sole get cleaned, afterthat i put it in my bag. Few of my friend tease me for doing so, but well... My sole shoes looks cleaner than theirs that have black mark. Not sure if it makes my shoes grip last longer, but logically no black mark mean less or no dust & dirt so it mean less slippery right. The only downside of what im doing as my shoes is Victor SHA950CA black & white color, the black color starting to fade away but the white still..... White, i mean no blurry or smudge. The only thing that im to lazy is to brush my sole to clean the dust hidding inside the sole pattern. I just do it monthly or sometimes 2 month
They've been worn for about a year. They've been collecting dust on a shelf for the past few months. Decided to wear them again yesterday and felt like I was on skates
The sole must be getting old to be like that. Time for new shoes. You can still wear these shoes for outside use but for badminton, it's not worth it. Even if you clean it, it won't help.
Well, I tried cleaning them with a brush and some cleaning type of spray, it actually helped! But still, they didn't grip like new, guess I'll be sticking to my Comfort Z's Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

pretty sure its fine as long as its wet cloth & you wipe it to the shoes. Different story if its wet cloth, you squeze it & the water rain you shoe sole. Or its wet cloth but its wet to the point its dripping water alot. What you need to worry is: 1. Water inside your shoes thats need to dry out or else it will become smelly & not to mention all the moisture create new life in your shoes (bacteria & all). 2. Water touching your sole glue. It will weaken the glue & your sole start to peel off. So if it just a very small amount of water on the surface of the rubber sole is fine.
What can help is cleaning them with glass cleaner. Most of them contain chemicals that soften the rubber again... not a whole lot, just enough to increase the grip of the sole again. Water should make no difference there. Otherwise you wouldn't be allowed to sweat. Some glues have problems with heat though.
I mean, I used dish detergent and a brush in order to clean them and it definitely helped! They did need a bit of drying afterwards, but that's not much trouble
I do collect that sort of dust in my previous shoes whenever I am lazy to change out of shoes and walk outside the court on pavements and if I forget to brush or clean the shoe it would get slippery like you said. Does this happen to you guys too? Now I try to take better care of my Court Control FF
Just a wet cloth to get rid of dust, for an extreme clean.....a kitchen degreaser! (nothing with bleach etc. in it though)
