Thanks for making the tournament thread, also love your summaries after each day of competition in past threads. As for the WTF, I'm liking the post draw commentary by Gill and Morton. Kind of weird to see them without masks but they need to convey their thoughts clearly and I guess they are already in their own bubble presumably tested negative. Also, every match to be broadcast live on all networks, is that a guarantee? No geo blocking on Youtube? Also...not the "best" of the world when there are many notable absences, but I guess Gill and Morton are bound by their jobs to say so.
As we mentioned earlier in this forum, BWF should calculate points from BWF top-tier tournaments (500, 750, 1000) for WTF to "reflect" the real strength of world badminton players.

I count 25. And that includes the European Team Championships. Last loss was to Ginting in Indonesia Masters SF last year. But the results are listed "upside down" per tournament on bwfbadminton.org, so I can see how one could include his three victories in that tournament by mistake (but of course they happened before the loss).
Why ? Why? Then this year the WTF due to covid would only consist of six qualifying tournaments and the result would have been about the same as now. Since no qualification is played in the higher-quality tournaments, e.g. the no. 40 of the world rankings never had the chance to qualify for the WTF because he normally does not slip into the tournament with only 32 players. For example Ellis/Smith seeded no. 1 in Mixed and we all know that they would not win the WTF. But they were just no.1 in the World Tour Ranking after the All England , the sixth tournament of nine for the WTF. And until All England the tournament were played by all good nations. So they get more points than the pairs from China and Japan until that time. BTW - HSBC paid for such a large number of tournaments ;-)

SeoSJ should decide in which discipline to play. Playing double double maybe he can play until 25 (/26 like ZhangNan before the efficacy fades). Even so, ZN is a front player in MD. Same for Yuta W He looked really jaded in the 1st tournament in MD SF against TPE in the 3rd game and again, in the Final against THA XD. 3 semifinals and he didnt bag a title. Focusing in XD, 2 SF likely he will win at least 1. and also earlier today, not much Zip against Malaysia MD. they can yet win tomorrow against AhsanHendra but i think by 3rd day, Ivanov Sozonov can pick him off. Close to 20 matches he play. I think he can focus in XD, its where his ranking is higher.
I thought the same. I haven't been following his MD matches. Did Seo/Choi lose in early rounds because Choi played badly, or because Seo didn't put in as much effort as in XD?
