VA needs to work on his stamina. All the players know this is his weakness. Even Antonsen, his teammate, played on VA's stamina in the World Tour finals this year, by trying to tire VA out in 3 sets. If Momota regains his level of play and consistency, that is bad news for VA. Because Momota never looks tired in the 3rd set. Momota is always very fit and can last to the end easily (reminds of LD in his prime, LD was always energetic and had stamina for the 3rd set).
Wow LZJ. Hope its the start of many. That looks like Prime ChenLong with equal physique probably better attack too.
The most epic match for LZJ at AE Championship final. Respect with the Axelsen shirt swap and massive boost of confidence, makes up for his loss to Sameer Verma in Thailand. Now he'll just need to keep the consistency!
So, would Malaysian media be hyped up and say they found the new lcw, breakthrough of km and va dominance and then… Ultimately gives lzj too much pressure, then complaint about the attention and ultimately unable to win the wc or Olympics?
It's a tough balance - if he focusses too much on stamina, he might lose too much explosiveness. I think he's in a good spot - this final didn't take place in isolation, he had a very tough match yesterday vs AA, and 2 incredibly tough games leading up to the third. I don't think this is cause for concern regarding his physicality, maybe some slight tactical adjustments will be enough...others wanting to keep him on the court will also mean they'll need to prolong rallies, which he can use to his advantage. His attacking play doesn't make it easy to "tire him out", and Momota will need to improve his shot quality if he wants to have a chance imop.
