I'm not the best to compare P7/P8, I used them side by side a long time ago briefly when I first tested the Adidas ranges. Ive not played since having the P7 and P8 (Pink). In terms of the spec, see the pics below.
@speCulatius, the pics of the F3.1 head overlaid on A3 are below. Generally the Uberschall frame is very similar at the top and bottom of the frame but narrower on the sides near to the head.
That might make the impression of the frame that's wider at the top, just that it actually is there other way around... slimmer below the top. Thanks! I just assume that the factory strings(?) vs. the other strings (most certainly at a higher tension) doesn't make that much of a difference.
The F3.1 is slimmer in the top half of the frame than A3. The A3 is restrung but only to 25lbs so minimal difference.
I just realised I should put this in here rather than 2020 thread I think I might have gone over the top with Adidas rackets Uberschall F09.2, F1.1, F2.1 and F3.1 Kalkul A2, A3 and A5 Wucht P3, P7 and P8 pink (demo) Spieler A09.1 blue/yellow, A09.1 black/red, P09.1 grey/blue, P09.1 blue/red, F09.1, W09.1 Stilistin W3.1 (demo) P570 (sample)
Question conserning Uberschall F1.1 if I understood correctly, they have changed from original F1 HL 2/7 HH and Flexible 4/7 Stiff to F1.1 HL 6/7 HH and Flexible 3/7 Stiff. Have you used original Uberschall F1 and do you have any information/guess why they changed those Uberschalls more head heavy? If I wanted similar model to Uberschall F1 in the future when it's not stock anymore should I currently be looking to Kalkull series rackets, since I don't know how much that change to head heavy affects feeling/similarity.
I dont think they have change much looking at the spec for both, have a look at my comparison on F1 and F1.1 on the link below. https://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/index.php?threads/adidas-badminton-2020.185366/page-14 I dont think I have a photo of the spec on the shaft of the F1 I had previously to compare against the F1.1 I have now.
So in theory, the Balance point could have shifted between not at all 10 mm, for the F1.1. Then that also depends on the variation you have and my guess would be, that it didn't change all that much.
and let's not forget that nice new bag! As soon as there is a tiny chance on the horizon to finally get back on court, I think I will get myself a pair of the Stabil Next Gen shoes: https://www.adidas.de/stabil-next-gen-primeblue-handballschuh/FX1774.html I seriously hope that encapsuling the boost foam will get rid of the disintegrating issues I had with the former P8 Boost shoes.
There don't look like badminton shoes, at first glance looked like ultraboost. It would be nice if adidas/nike can import nice cushioning tech to badminton with more stability.
Adidas is marketing them as badminton shoes. Afaik the Stabil series originally was designed for handball which is fairly similar in terms of requirements for shoes. In terms of cushioning, I haven't met a better material than the Boost stuff yet. It felt amazing the in the old P8 Boost shoes, but sadly they just weren't robust enough.
I use Nike Peg37 for my jogs/runs they feel very nice, but I can't imagine for them for badminton for a couple of reasons 1, stability 2, slows the movement due to heavy cushion impact. I guess adidas did a good job in balancing the amount of cushion (comfort) and speed on court.
That's a good point. With the previous boost-badminton shoes, they had the great idea of putting the boost only under the heel area: So you had the cushioning for the landings but wouldn't lose much agility when you want to push off with the forefoot. You can't see the distribution of the boost on the new Stabil shoes, but I just guess they made a similar move there. It's only logical for shoes that are targeted towards fast stop-and-go movements. ...oh man.... I miss badminton. It's now almost 6 months since I last hit a shuttle with no end in sight. Unbelievable.
That is smart work by adidas, nice that some top company is caring for badminton. Nike shoes usually have this nice pressurized air pocket that helps in quick forefoot movement. Would that be helpful for badminton shoes? may be if they tune the pressure right in order to not loose agility. Its been 9months since I had any decent badminton in competitive mode and most probably will go on for 9 more months, sigh!!
To be fair, I think there are already so many great badminton shoes around. Victor and also Yonex both have a good lineup for years now. If I was forced to play with the Victor P9200 until the end of my days, I think I would be fine with it. But it sure is always a good thing for the consumer to have some more high class players entering the competition.
Of course existing things are already decent and good. Sota tech that already exists for other sports etc if can be adapted for badminton will be exciting to watch. I kind of look forward to these adidas boost shoes, hope they do well and more such tech be imported.
Dave1011 - I love the colour of that bag! I've had the Stabil Next Gen shoes for about 4 months now and they are amazing shoes. I've only been able to wear them on court for the last 3 weeks but the build quality of the shoes is excellent. They have this really clever double hole lacing system where you pull the lace tight and it just stays without going slack again. I recently bought some Adidas running trainers and tennis shoes, and they were fine but the badminton shoes (or handball/volleyball or whatever these were originally for) are a bit tighter in the toe area. I may go up half a UK size if I get another pair.
The most insane part is you've gripped them all.... do you play with all 18 rackets? You're gonna need a bigger bag
