Any info why Li Yinhui also absent from the team? Today I heard from a radio, that a young Chinese player who also missed from SC team, is retired? I coud'n't hear the news clearly since it was raining hard, but I remembered the news anchor said his/her age is only 23 ? Any idea which player ? Thanks

Judging from the number of notable absences/retirements, it is getting increasingly difficult to guess who is going to take the Cup.

historically the end of the olympics is the beginning of retirement season. expect 'older' players to take a step back from int'l competition.

Indonesian team still has several "older" players though. I guess they still value the experience. It will be interesting to see whether other countries focus on youth will pay off.

China Men’s singles really needs to step up. Shi Yu Qi needs to get his act together.

Li Yin Hui not on the list either.

Du Yue might be full concentrating on mixed doubles.

Yeah sad times, there are many retirements , separations...

It makes me wonder had LiLiu won Gold , will they get separated? DuYueYinHui is done deal i guess.

Will ZSW/HYQ gets separated as well?

SYQ still holds the key ,imo. Its still hard to see other countries winning it other than China. Japan be 2nd favourite despite volatile performance from their WS & WD in OG. The only Indonesia winning it is China vs Japan in SF (which looked unlikely in seeding positions) . Put them at 3rd favourite with top heavy and downlight squad in different sectors.

Cant see Indonesia beat Japan, there is better chance For Indonesia to beat China but i see China beating Japan. Will be interesting. Remember how last time Japan was favourite and China still trounced them 3-0 right?

Most likely as CHN registered three back up players in DEN Open, so it would be Shi Yuqi (MS1), Lu Guangzu (MS2), Li Shifeng/Weng Hongyang (MS3/reserved) for Thomas Cup singles players.

Partnering with promising prospect, Feng Yanzhe.

Both Han Chengkai and Lin Guipu have announced their retirement through their Weibo account.

There's big speculation circulating that the partnerships of World number one XD pair will come to an end.
Overall, INA has better chance in Thomas Cup than Sudirman Cup.

Looks like there will be big news tomorrow.

Cant fathom it if ZhengHuang gets retired at this stage. They can still win many more titles. Its not like EndoYuta situation or ChoiSeo for that matter which i cant see Zheng doing better in MD or Huang doing better in WD.

Still WR1 gets retired dont happen often very often , the last one i remembered is Natsir/Widianto & LeeYongDaeYooYYS.

Unlikely for Zheng/Huang to retire but Li Jun Hui did allude to his retirement in Han's retirement post.

Without Lee Yang/Wang Chi Lin & TTY for Chinese Taipei makes it harder for them to pick up points vs. Korea.

Still exciting to see whether any young player will become the new hero
